Leicester News and Form

Leicester produced a tremendous result on Boxing Day as they recorded a home win over Manchester City. That was their second upset in a row as they had beaten Chelsea last weekend at Stamford Bridge. This is the third time this season that Leicester have won back to back league games and they are yet to win three in a row so far. Leicester have collected a W3 D3 L2 record in their last eight games in the top flight now. Their home form this season is a W4 D2 L3 record. They have tallied up 12 goals at the King Power in the league, conceding 9. But under half of their home league games have ended over 2.5 goals.

78% of Leicester’s home games have produced either 2 or 3 goals. On home soil, this season Leicester have taken a clean sheet in three of their games. Of the nine goals conceded at home, seven of them have been in the first period of games. There has been a trend with their home wins this season in the Premier League. In each of their four home wins this season, Leicester have scored at least two goals. Surprisingly though overall this season Leicester have only opened the scoring twice. Can they keep their momentum going?

Leicester v Cardiff Head to Head

Leicester were 1-0 winners over Cardiff earlier this season
The Foxes are W2 D2 L1 in their last five league games against the Bluebirds
The last meeting at the King Power ended in a 1-0 win for Cardiff
Both teams have scored in just two of the last five meetings

Cardiff News and Form

Cardiff played out a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on the weekend which was a good point. They were second-best in the game but survived somehow. That snapped back to back losses that they had suffered in the top flight. The point at Palace on Wednesday saw Cardiff end a six-match losing away streak as well. So that has to be taken as a big positive. Overall this season away from home, Cardiff have a D2 L7 so are looking for that first road win of the term. Scoring has been a big problem for them though as they have only netted a total of five away goals. They have conceding 18, an average of exactly two goals per game.

44% of away games they have been involved in have gone over 2.5 goals and that has largely been down to how poor their defence has been. Cardiff have failed to hit the back of the net in 56% of games played away from home this season. The Bluebirds have conceded 67% of their away goals in the second period of games. Cardiff have the joint-worst away record in the top flight this season. They have opened the scoring in just one away game this season and they have been losing at half time in five of their nine road games. The Bluebirds start three points clear of safety.

Leicester v Cardiff Predictions

Leicester to win: After a couple of great wins it’s not hard to see the Foxes pushing on from there. Leicester to win to nil looks like a good proposition considering Cardiff aren’t a huge attacking threat.
