Everything came up roses for Chelsea last weekend as they picked up a victory and saw the others who were in the race for a top-four finish, fail to match their efforts. That means Chelsea can breathe easy now knowing that they have secured a top-four finish and will be heading to the Champions League next season. So there is no pressure on them and there is no pressure on Leicester either who have no chance at a top seven finish now. Read our predictions for Leicester v Chelsea.

Leicester News and Form

Leicester put on a good performance in a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City last time out. That remains just their second loss in their last eight Premier League games. The Foxes have won four of their last five games on home soil at the King power stadium (L1). In their last home game, they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over top six opposition in the form of Arsenal. Leicester have netted at least two goals in all but one of their last five home games. Leicester’s home record this season in the top flight reads W8 D2 L8, scoring an average of 1.3 goals per game during that sequence. They have conceded at 1.1 goal per game on average.

In total, the Foxes have managed to take a clean sheet in 28% of home fixtures. Six of their eight home wins recorded this season have been by a margin of at least two goals. There has not been a drawn outcome in any of Leicester’s last twelve home games. 60% of the home goals that Leicester have conceded this season have come in the first half of games. Surprisingly Leicester have only opened the scoring in six home games this season.

But still, Liverpool and Manchester City are the only two teams who have produced better records over the last eight rounds of Premier League action than what Leicester have done. So that shows how well they have been going with their form. Leicester are W2 L3 at home against the other big six teams this season.

Chelsea News and Form

The Blues had a big extra shift in midweek, as they were taken to a penalty shoot-out at home against Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-final. Chelsea won the shootout. On the Premier League front, there is no pressure on Chelsea for this fixture because they have guaranteed themselves a top-four finish. So they will be in the Champions League next season. That at least is some positive for them in what has been a troubled season. Chelsea have lost five of their last eight away games in the top flight (W2 D1). in their last away game, they collected a point in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

Chelsea have won only one away game this season against teams who are currently in the top half of the table (D1 L6). Chelsea have produced an away record this season in the top flight of W9 D2 L7 and in that campaign they have averaged 1.3 goals per game. Two-thirds of Chelsea’s away games this season have ended up going over the 2.5 goals line.

In total Chelsea have taken a clean sheet in 28% of their away games. However, they have been struggling defensively recently because they have no clean sheet in their last eight away from Stamford Bridge. Of their seven away defeats this season six of them have been by a margin of at least two goals. Chelsea have opened the scoring in exactly half of their away fixtures.

Leicester v Chelsea Predictions

Draw: it’s hard to see the intensity in this one lasting too deeply into the game. Is probably going to just fade away into a bit of even parity and a non-contest at the end of the day. The draw in the match outright seems to be a pretty good fit.
