Leicester v Gloucester Preview

Leicester haven’t been in hot form as of late with only the one win in their last five league matches. The positive from that is that it at least was at Welford Road in their last home league fixture. The last time that the Tigers managed to secure back to back home wins in the Premiership was back in March of last year. But going into this one, they can take some inspiration from the fact that they remain undefeated at home against the Cherry and Whites since 2007.

Four points for the Tigers would change the outlook on their season in terms of the league standings quite a bit. At least it could. It would likely see them put some better distance between themselves and the bottom two at least. In their last game the Tigers went down 16-23 out at Bath. When they went to Kingsholm back in mid-November to face Gloucester, Leicester lost heavily in a 36-13 defeat.

Gloucester suffered a heavy home defeat against Sale last time out and that was at Kingsholm. They have a bit of away form going at the moment as they have won their last two on the road (at Newcastle in the league and Exeter in Europe). They have also won their last two against Leicester as well, but both of those were at Kingsholm during the 2018 calendar year.

With that little bit of away momentum behind them, the Cherry and Whites will be looking to complete a three-match winning streak over the Tigers for the first time in four years. This would actually be a good bounce-back performance from them if they could complete the league double over the Tigers this season. It would strengthen their place inside the top three in the division.

Leicester v Gloucester Prediction

Gloucester have shown a little bit of away form and will be keen to snap back after their loss against Sale last time out. There is probably just enough here to back the away win at 6/4 odds* (betting odds taken from bet365 on January 4th, 2019 at 6:21 pm)
