C&D winner Bridle Loanan leading the market

Two wins into his chasing career, Bridle Loanan came up with his first win. It was a dominant win as well that he produced as well at course and distance. It was an eight-length victory that he produced over Champion Chase from a mark of 6/1. He is up as the 11/8 favourite for this one* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 19:14 on Monday, January 27th 2020).

It was a promising performance from him so early in his career and in this sort of challenge he should be at the front on the back of it. The price of having won that novices’ handicap means that he goes up 10lb. So that is going to be the really big test for him in this one.

Finnegan’s Garden with better form?

The really interesting challenger in this field is Finnegan’s Garden. He is a course and distance winner took and has landed a couple of wins over the course of the season at Lingfield. In his last outing, he beat The Gipper by four and a half lengths.

In total, he has claimed nine chase victories from 2m to 2m 4f. Considering that he has won three of six trips over the Lingfield hurdles, then he looks a reasonable option to oppose the favourite with at 3/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 19:14 on Monday, January 27th 2020)

Tara Bridge another C&D winner

Tara Bridge won the 2018 renewal of this race when he got the better of Finnegan’s Garden. But there has been no win put on the board anywhere from him since then. In his last outing, he really disappointed with a sixth-place finish out of 8 at Plumpton. The 12-year-old doesn’t look to be in the kind of shape to topple either of the front two in the market and the only claim is that 2018 C&D.

The Rest of the pack

David Pipe’s Delface had a drop off in form in finishing second from last on his most recent run. That was a trip at Leicester over a 2m distance last month. It was from the position of 2/1 favourite as well thanks to a previous good run at Hereford. So he really didn’t get things right at all in that one, and won’t have won supporters for it.

Arian was third in a chase at Hereford last December, which was not a bad run at all. She has claimed a hurdle and an NH flat win at 2m and 2m 1f. Go Steady came up with a win in a novice’s handicap last month from 5/4 favourite by a nose. There was good grit to hang on, but is in higher company here. Vocaliser has little of note to claim other than four chases won from 2m to 2f. It’s been 81 days since his last run.

Predictions & Tips

It is to the top two in the race that the attention has to stay. Bridle Loanan’s novices’ handicap successes at Lingfield of course makes him the favourite. He is a good, proven fit for Lingfield.

However, the better value is easily on Finnegan’s Garden who has form at Linfield and just earlier this month hit home at C&D. He could spring a surprise with Bridle Loanan taking on 10lb extra.
