From four games in this Euro 2020 qualification group, Lithuania have taken just one point. They won’t be going to the Finals next summer. But then in their second group meeting with Serbia on Saturday, Portugal banked a 4-2 win to get up and running. That leaves them eight points behind leaders Ukraine having played two games fewer than them. Serbia and Luxembourg are a point behind Portugal, both having played a game more than they have. Basically, Portugal are on course for a top-two finish.
It is a three-match winning streak that Portugal are on, following their win in the Nations League finals. It is an eleven match undefeated streak of form that they have recorded, winning six of those. They are just such a difficult side to get the better of and grind down enough to beat.
