Liverpool News and Form

Liverpool have really gone into their shell away from home this season. Last weekend they earned a point from a 0-0 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby. The Reds surprisingly looked extremely unimaginative up front. That is back-to-back 0-0 away draws that they have taken. Liverpool are only W2 L4 in their last six. Their seven-point lead at the top that they had over Manchester City at the turn of the New Year is totally gone.

Now they are trailing the Citizens by a point heading into the weekend. But still, Liverpool have great home form, winning nine of their last 10 at Anfield in the EPL (D1). The last two home wins have been with clean sheets as well. Liverpool have not conceded in any of their last four league games, home and away. They are carrying fine scoring form at home too.

Liverpool have netted at least three goals in all but one of their last seven league fixtures at Anfield. Liverpool have averaged 2.8 goals per home game this season, while defensively they have been rock solid, conceding just seven. 64% of Liverpool’s home games have gone over 2.5 goals. They have earned a clean sheet in 64% of their home games as well.

Their overall home record is W12 D2 for the season and the Reds have also been leading at the halftime break in all but three of their home fixtures. They have also opened the scoring in 11 of their 14 games at Anfield. There are undefeated in front of the Kop this season and are on a 10 match scoring streak in the league at Anfield.

Key-Facts – Liverpool v Burnley

  • Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season
  • The Reds have not conceded in four games
  • The Clarets have lost back to back league games

Burnley News and Form

Burnley put a great survival run together with an eight-match undefeated streak. That eased their relegation concerns. But they have just hit hard times in their last couple of fixtures, having lost back-to-back games against Newcastle and Crystal Palace. So they need to dig in a little bit deeper and find a way to stop that losing rot.

This is not an easy game in which to try and do that though. Burnley are W2 D2 L1 in their last five road fixtures in the Premier League. In their last home game though they suffered a 2-0 reverse at Newcastle. That leaves the Clarets with an overall away record of W3 D4 L8 for the season.

Burnley have actually averaged under a goal per away game this season, conceding at an average of 1.8 per road games. 40% of their away games this season in the top flight have ended up going over 3.5 goals. Burnley have only managed two clean sheets on their travels this season in the Premier League. Both of those came in 0-0 draws.

Of the eight away defeats that Burnley have taken this season, five of them have been by a two goal margin. Burnley have been level at the halftime break in nine of their 15 away games. The Clarets are now without a clean sheet in six games, home and away. 63% of their away goals conceded have been in the second half of fixtures.

Liverpool v Burnley Predictions

Liverpool to win: The Reds can stick three points on the board in this one. The momentum of Burnley has slowed and Liverpool’s home record speaks for itself. The Reds to win to nil looks a good proposition.
