Liverpool v PSG Betting Preview – UEFA Champions League 18th September 7.45pm

This is going to be a great showdown between two very good sides who could well be in the running for the title. Both have started their respective domestic seasons strongly and this has the potential of being a great, open clash between two very strong sides. Can Liverpool land a huge marker in their group by landing an opening win on home soil? Read our predictions for the Liverpool v PSG fixture.

Liverpool News and Form

Liverpool landed an away win at Spurs over the weekend in the Premier League and that leaves them with a perfect start to the top flight action. There were more signs of their strengths this season in that game, but their 2-1 win could have been much bigger. They wasted a lot of chances in the game, largely down to Mo Salah and Sadio Mane being extremely selfish in the match instead of playing for the team. The notable difference about Liverpool this season is their defensive improvement and they have conceded only two goals in five games this term. This is a tough one against a powerful attack and we are going with both teams to score at 4/9 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 15th, 2018 at 11:35 p.m.) in our Liverpool v PSG betting tips.

Liverpool won their group last season with a W3 D3 record, producing 23 goals in their matches in total. Despite of all, they looked really sloppy at times and it wasn’t always comfortable for them. They look stronger this season though and this is such an important match in the group. In terms of winning the group, that’s going to be a tough ask if they lose this one on home soil to start off with. There are two powerful attacking sides squaring off in midweek and over 3.5 goals is going to take our fancy at 11/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 15th, 2018 at 11:35 p.m.). The two attacks on show have it in them to produce. Liverpool are unbeaten in sixteen European games (W11 D5).

PSG News and Form

As to be expected, PSG are in terrific form having won six games out of six in all competitions this season. Not only that they have managed to produce at least three goals in each and every game they have played in this season. There have been only the one clean sheet from them through in their last four, so it’s definitely worth considering the both teams to score option. They have an embarrassment of riches in attack and Edinson Cavani and Neymar are both at the 4/5 odds mark in the anytime goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken from September 15th, 2018 at 11:35 p.m.). A win at Anfield for them in this one would totally put them in the driving seat to collect the group win. The rest of the group is made up of Red Star Belgrade and Napoli.

PSG powered their way to a group win last season but the dice didn’t land well for them in the round of sixteen draw. They were put up against Real Madrid who had failed to win their group, and it was the Spaniards who came out on top comfortably, with PSG suffering because of Neymar’s injury. PSG posted a W5 L1 record in the group stage, scoring 25 goals along the way. When you have two very strong sides it make life harder for correct score predictions. In their two previous away games this season, PSG have scored seven goals. If anyone in Europe can silence Anfield, PSG have the potential to do so.

Liverpool v PSG Head to Head

This will be just the second meeting between the two sides. The previous meetings happened back in the 1997 European Cup Winners Cup. The two games produced home wins and both of those wins were with a clean sheet as well. That’s really all the trend that there is to go on.

Liverpool v PSG Predictions

There really should be no quarter given by either of those two who look as if they will match up evenly against each other. But we are going to swing with home advantage and Liverpool producing a home win looks plenty of value to jump on for our Liverpool v PSG predictions.
