Liverpool v Wolves Betting Tips – Premier League, 12th May 3.00pm

Liverpool can only do what they can do and hope that title rivals Manchester City slip up on the final weekend against Brighton. The Reds go in to the final round of matches trailing the reigning champions by one point. This may not be the easiest of home games against Wolves who are on a great run of form again. They have proven themselves in their contests against the stronger teams in the league this season, too. Read our predictions for Liverpool v Wolves.

Liverpool News and Form

The plan is pretty simple for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. They have to drive hard at the three points. That is because they are trying to overcome a one-point deficit to league leaders Manchester City in this final round of action. Was nothing left for them to lose at this point, they just need to get themselves on the front foot. Whether a win will be enough to get them the title will all depend on Manchester City’s result at Brighton. If the Citizens fail to win that, then the door will be open for Liverpool. So the title fate of Liverpool is no longer in their own hands.

The home form of Liverpool in the Premier League this season has been immense. There are currently on a six-match winning streak on home soil in the top flight, remaining undefeated there all season. Liverpool have won all but two of their 18 home games this season in the EPL. Liverpool have remained on a hot scoring streak, netting a least two goals in each of their last six home games. In total Liverpool have averaged just under three goals per home game this season, with almost 70% of games there going over 2.5 goals.

But it is not only their attack which has been going well, they have been rock solid in defence. The Reds have only conceded 10 home goals this season in their campaign, earning a clean sheet in 61% of their home fixtures. 12 of their 16 home wins this season have been by a margin of at least two goals, and the Reds have scored in each of their last 14 home fixtures. In each of their last eight league appearances, home and away, Liverpool have scored at least two goals. The Reds have also been leading at the half-time break in 12 of their home games, opening the scoring in all but four of their Anfield fixtures.

  • The Reds have scored a least two goals in each of their last eight league games
  • Wolves have lost just one away game against the big six this season

Wolves News and Form

Liverpool are one of the big success stories of this season’s Premier League. They will be finishing in seventh place which is a tremendous effort from them only having been promoted from the Championship at the end of last season. Wolves have won their last three Premier League games, going unbeaten in four. Within their last four Premier League wins, Wolves have taken notable victories over Manchester United and Arsenal. Actually their record against the big six teams away from home this season is well worth mentioning.

From their five away games played against the top six finishers, Wolves have produced a fine W1 D3 L1 record. The one loss in that sequence came at the Etihad against Manchester City, when Wolves were reduced to 10 men early on in the game, giving them little chance against the reigning champions. The overall away record of Wolves this season is W6 D5 L7. With just the one victory in their last six away games played (D2 L3) the away win appearing in this fixture doesn’t entirely look to be on the cards. But in order to disrupt Liverpool’s outside chance of the title, they don’t have too. A draw would do that.

Wolves are a team who are resilient and hard to get the better of. They have averaged just over a goal per game hit on the road this season, with only 39% of their away games making it over 2.5 goals. Wolves have not conceded heavily in a whole bunch of away games this season, and their overall defensive record on the road isn’t all that bad, despite them only claiming a clean sheet in 11% of all league fixtures. Interestingly of the seven away losses which Wolves have suffered this season, five of them have been against teams currently sitting in the bottom six. So they have known how to raise their game against stronger opposition.

Liverpool v Wolves Predictions

Liverpool to win: you still have to imagine that Liverpool are going to get over the finish line in terms of picking up three points in this one. It may be a tight match though because Wolves are no particular pushover. Liverpool to win and both teams to score.
