Liverpool News and Form – Big win for the Reds?

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been in stunning form this season. The Reds’ 2-0 loss to Napoli in their opening Champions League group game back in September remains their only defeat in any competition this term.

Since that reverse in Naples, Liverpool have hit back with Group E wins over Red Bull Salzburg and Genk, scoring four goals in each. Two weeks back, the Reds thumped the Smurfs at the Luminus Arena, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring a brace and Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also getting on the scoresheet.

Liverpool scored two late goals at Villa Park last Saturday to preserve their unbeaten start in the Premier League. The Merseyside outfit have won ten and drawn one of their opening 11 league matches this term.

The European champions wiped the floor with Genk in Belgium last month, and the Premier League leaders should be far too strong for the Belgians again on Tuesday night.

Liverpool vs Genk Head to Head

When Genk and Liverpool met at the Luminus Arena in October, it was the first ever meeting between the two clubs. The Premier League side picked up a comfortable win on the night, winning 4-1 in Belgium.

Key-Facts – Liverpool vs Genk

  • Liverpool have only been beaten once in all competitions this season
  • The Reds have won all of their home games thus far
  • The Smurfs have taken just one point from a possible nine in Group E

Genk News and Form – A tough night ahead for the Belgian champions

Genk picked up their fourth Belgian title last season. However, the Smurfs have made a sluggish start to this campaign, as they occupy eighth position on just 20 points from 13 matches so far. Blue-White crashed to their fifth league defeat of the season last time out, losing 2-0 at KAS Eupen.

Genk have taken a solitary point from three Champions League group games. Having kicked off with a heavy 6-2 defeat at Red Bull Salzburg, Mazzu’s boys responded superbly by holding Serie A giants Napoli to a 0-0 draw at the Luminus Arena in round two. Unfortunately for Genk, they could only follow that up with a 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool.

Genk will do their best to frustrate Liverpool’s deadly attack for as long as possible on Tuesday night. However, it could be a long night for the Smurfs at the home of the Champions League winners.

Liverpool vs Genk Predictions

Liverpool win: The Reds have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League this season. In fact, six goals conceded in three group games will be a slight concern for Klopp. Having said that, Liverpool’s attack is as good as it gets, and the free-scoring Reds will be targeting another hatful of goals on Tuesday.

Liverpool will be expecting to win by a margin at Anfield. Having already beaten the same opposition 4-1 just two weeks ago, I can see the home team cruising to another three Champions League points. Have a punt on Liverpool to win -2 at 4/6.

In the game in Belgium, Liverpool found themselves a goal up at the break, adding three more in the second half. Check out the decent price of 4/11 for Liverpool to be winning at half time and full time on Tuesday.
