London Irish v Northampton Rugby Winner Odds & Preview

Saints to cover seven point handicap

Rugby Betting

London Irish play hosts to the Northampton Saints at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the Rugby Premiership. It hasn’t been a great start to the season for the Irish though who have lost their last two matches for the season. Back to back defeats and substantial ones at that (7-37 at Exeter and 7-36 at Sale) have left them needing to pick up the pieces a bit and they are going into this one on home soil as 11/5 underdogs with William Hill.

London Irish v Northampton Rugby

Northampton 4/11, London Irish 11/5

They are on a three match winning streak at the Madejski though since a loss against Jersey in the semi final of last season’s British & Irish Cup. This is their first season back up in the top flight after getting through the 2016-17 season down in the Championship. They may have their hands full here too because Northampton have won two of their three outings this season (L1) and they have suffered just the one loss in their last seven Premiership games against London Irish.

The last time that the Saints suffered a loss against London Irish was back on Boxing Day in 2015. That having been said though, their defeat this season happened out on the road and Northampton are on a three match losing streak away from home in the Premiership. But with the London Irish having a pretty poor start to life back up in the top tier, the Saints will fancy their chances of snapping that streak. They have taken pretty solid wins over Bath and Leicester since their opening defeat against Saracens.

Still, with the Saints favourites for this one and being the away taken you are probably not going to be looking at them covering a huge handicap. A Northampton -7 is a decent price of 10/11 at William Hill to have a look at. The last time that these two met in Reading was in the 2015/16 season in which the Irish ended up being relegated, but they did take a 25-23 win over the visits Saints. But with their struggling defence, the home side may have a tough time keeping the visitors at arm’s length.
