Tuesday night saw Manchester City make the trip to Newcastle. Having opened the scoring early in the game, it looked as if it was going to be another routine night for them. However defensive mistakes in the second half of the game cost them badly as they ended up losing 2-1. That was a huge blow and a huge setback for the Citizens, but they had actually been in very good form having won four matches in a row before the Newcastle fixture.

The one upset at home was a 3-2 loss against Crystal Palace just before Christmas. Both goals came in the second half of the fixture and it did take a converted penalty kick from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to set them on their way. Arsenal looked as if they were heading for a clean sheet in the game but conceded right at the death.

But still, even with that blip at the end of the game, Arsenal moved onto six straight home victories in the top flight. But in comparison, their away form is really in bad shape. Arsenal are winless in their last five away games in the Premier League, losing three of those. 82% of Arsenal’s away games this season have ended up over 2.5 goals, with 64% making it to at least four goals.

The defensive issues have clearly been there for the Gunners because they have conceded exactly 2 goals per away games this season on average. They have managed to balance out their scoring because they have scored exactly 2 goals per game on average away from home. Arsenal’s overall away form is just W4 D3 L4 this season. They are still on the search for their first away clean sheet.
