Manchester City News and Form – Will City produce a big win against Brighton?

It was a 3-1 win that the Citizens claimed at Bournemouth last weekend. They came out of the gates quickly once again in that one. Manchester City have now scored the opening goal in each of their three league games this season, inside of the first 25 minutes. In total, the Citizens have fired off ten goals in their three games. But boss Pep Guardiola will likely be highly frustrated at the goals which his team have been giving up. That’s back to back games with no clean sheet.

This will be Manchester City’s second game at the Etihad in the top flight for the season. Their first one saw them settle for a 2-2 draw against Spurs. That was a strange game as City completely dominated the fixture, but allowed Tottneham to do a smash and grab job despite not posing City and defensive stresses in the game. Man City are on a four match winning streak in the league (rolling over from last term). They are carrying form against Brighton too.

Manchester City are on a five-match winning streak against Brighton in all competitions. The Citizens have also been winning at both half time and full time in their last four against them. So there’s a good betting trend to look at. City have won all but one of their last 17 Premier League games now. Raheem Sterling is already on five goals this season, with Sergio Aguero hot on his heels with four. Kevin de Bruyne has also made four assists this season.

Brighton News and Form

It is a bit of a slide that Brighton are facing at the moment. They have gone from win to draw to loss this season so far. This is a nightmare of a game for them in which to try and rediscover their winning touch, that’s for sure. After their bright start in thumping Watford 3-0, they have subsequently drawn against West Ham and have lost against Southampton last weekend in a south coast derby match.

The bookmakers fully expect another defeat to come the way of Brighton this weekend. Brighton have actually failed to win 11 of their last 12 Premier League games now, the one exception being this season’s opening win over Watford. The Seagulls did win a tricky EFL Cup match in midweek, beating Championship side Bristol City 2-1. Brighton gave some of their summer signings a run out in that one.

Part of their difficulties against Southampton last weekend was that Brighton had Florin Andone sent off, so he will be serving a suspension for this game. Brighton did not have a good time of things on the road last season in the Premier League. They finished with an away record of W3 D4 L12. The Seagulls averaged well under a goal per game on their travels last season, including a 2-0 defeat at Man City. Brighton didn’t score in any of their visits to the top four in the last campaign.

Manchester City v Brighton Predictions

Man City to win: Manchester City have been on the ball in attack this season and have been racking up the goals already. They get a good opportunity to boost their goal difference in this one and they should be able to win this by at least a three-goal margin.
