Manchester City v Burnley Betting Preview – Premier League 21st October 3.00pm

Manchester City produced another stunning performance last weekend as they trounced Stoke at the Etihad by putting seven goals past the Potters. What will become of Burnley on their visit there on the weekend? Pep Guardiola’s City just look unstoppable at the moment and Burnley, despite the great work that they have done this season in only having suffered a defeat are likely going to get turned over. How heavy will the margin of defeat be though?

Manchester City v Burnley Betting Tips

Who is going to be the team to stop Manchester City in their tracks? Pep Guardiola’s side are looking so impressive at the moment and they rattled off seven goals against Stoke last weekend which saw them open up a two point lead at the head of the table over rivals Man Utd. Manchester City are unbeaten this season in a W7 D1 record, and they are averaging over 3.5 goals per game this season as well. City will still be expected to go out and tear apart the visiting Burnley, despite the Clarets having done so well at the back this season. Just to sum that up, in the Ladbrokes Correct Score market a Manchester City 3-0 result is the shortest priced option available at a price of 11/2. You have a price of 8/11 only on over 3/5 goals cropping up.

Last Six Premier League Head to Head

Man City 2 -1 Burnley
Burnley 1 – 2 Man City
Burnley 1 – 0 Man City
Man City 2 – 2 Burnley
Burnley 1 – Man City 6
Man City 3 – Burnley

The Citizens have not had plain sailing against Burnley in the Premier League over the recent meetings and have collected only a W2 D1 L1 record in their last four against them and the two wins were only by a one goal margin. But City are a totally different beast at the moment, and even with Burnley having scored in all but one of their last six against City you are looking at about 11/8 on both teams to score in this one. That’s because City have been impressive at the back this season as well as going forward, having picked up a clean sheet in five of their eight games. Manchester City to win to nil at Ladbrokes is a 3/4 option. Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are great 8/11 anytime goalscorer options while Gabriel Jesus has appeal at 9/4 at the head of the First Goalscorer market, the same price as Sergio Aguero is.

Burnley have done better than expected this season and they have still only lost the one game this season in the top flight. Burnley have collected a W3 D4 L1 and this has all been done with a lack of scoring as well. Burnley have scored just the eight league goals this season but only the current top three in the league can boast a better defensive record than they have produced. Burnley, who were shocking on the road last season, have produced an uneaten W2 D2 record this season on their travels, which included that shock win at Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season and a win at Goodison Park against Everton recently. But how plausible does it seem that they will be able to fend off Manchester City for 90 minutes?

Chris Wood has scored three of Burnley’s eight goals this season and he rescued a point for the Clarets last weekend in a home draw with West Ham who played two thirds of the match with just 10 men. Burnley have collected a D2 L1 record in their last three visits to Man City in the league and only narrowly lost 2-1 there last term after the Citizens had had Fernandinho sent off just after the half hour mark. Burnley have been a bit wasteful in front of goal at home this season and their lack of clinical scoring may well catch up with them at some point. Even if they brought it here, it’s unlikely it would be enough to better the output that City can create. But this is Burnley and they have already produced the goods as underdogs this season and they are in a bullish old mood at the moment.

Manchester City v Burnley Predictions

Man City to win: Teams going to the Etihad at the moment are probably just going to write the day off as a lost cause. Burnley have enjoyed a great season but they are likely going to come out on the wrong end of a big scoreline. A Manchester City 3-0 has some appeal and that’s on the back of how well Burnley’s defence has done this term.
