Manchester City v Burnley Preview

Manchester City have already reached the EFL Cup Final and will be looking to get to Wembley again in the FA Cup. It has been some form from the Citizens after their difficult month of December. They have strung together a seven-match winning streak in all competitions and had a field day at home in the last round of the FA Cup. Man City destroyed Championship strugglers Rotherham 7-0 at the Etihad.

Then there was that remarkable 9-0 home scoreline over Burton in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg. City have strong home from going against Burnley as well, having already beaten them at the Etihad 5-0 in the League this season. They met back in January last year in the third round of the FA Cup at the Etihad too, with City winning 4-1. That’s a four-match winning streak at home that the Citizens have going over the Clarets. Across all competitions, this season Manchester City have only failed to win two home games.

Burnley were having some real struggles for the season right up until the end of December. The Clarets took a good home win over West Ham on December 30th and that sparked a run of four straight wins in all competitions from them. A 0-0 draw against Watford in their last League match has seen them go five games unbeaten. But then again it rarely matters what kind of form a team is in when they go to face Manchester City.

Burnley have only taken two wins away from home all season. Those were League wins at Cardiff and Huddersfield. Burnley have actually failed to score in four of their last six games on the road and it’s hard to imagine that they are really going to launch themselves hard at pulling out a victory in this one. They may recognise it as being something of a lost cause. It really is the worst possible draw that they could have received.

Manchester City v Burnley Predictions

Manchester City to win: The Citizens have already eased past Burnley once this season. Neither may be at full strength compared to that EFL meeting. Still, it is worth having a look at Man City to win to nil at 8/13* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on January 23rd, 2109 at 3:23 p.m.)
