Premier League Champions Manchester City swing into more pre-season action on Tuesday, with an away match against German opposition. The match is being played at the Tivoli Neu Stadium in Austria. The premier League title holders square off against Dynamo Dresden, as they look to start sharpening their claws ahead of the defence of their title. Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini signed a new deal with the club after guiding them to their first league success in 44 years, but the critics are already warning City that the defence of their title could be harder than than winning it. City will of course also get another crack at the Champions League after failing to make it past the group stage in their first venture in the competition last season. They should be a bigger force to be reckoned with and they have been linked with big summer transfer targets like Arsenal’s Robin van Persie. Manchester City lost their first pre-season friendly, as they went down 1-0 away against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in Austria.

Naturally there are no panic buttons to be pressed yet after the defeat, but there were a crop of senior players in attendance for the match. Carlos Tevez took part after his announcement that he was totally settled at Manchester City, while striker Mario Jelavic, on trial with City got a run out in the second half of the game. So no-one is quite sure just yet, what the final City squad will be when it comes to the start of the Premier League. There are still major transfer rumours circling about Tevez leaving the club, along with Edin Dzeko who are both apparently being targeted by AC Milan as replacements for the departing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. So the building continues for Manchester City with a match against Dynamo Dresden on Tuesday.

Dynamo Dresden are in the second tier of German football, finishing in mid-table there last season with a decent goals haul, but with a terrible defence. So the pre-season is all about getting match fit more than anything, but we should see Man City turning up the pace a little bit, because they were extremely lack-lustre going forward against Al Hilal.
