Red Devils continue to make waves after beating Spurs

The Red Devils continued their winning streak under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, making it six wins from six since he took over. Of all the games in that sequence, this was the biggest as Manchester United raided Wembley to take a 1-0 league win over Tottenham.

A goal at the end of the first half from Marcus Rashford and a whole string of saves from keeper David de Gea got the Red Devils the three points. It answered a lot of questions about whether or not, in that first real test under Solskjaer, that Manchester United could be competitive.

They were and they continued their rise up the Premier League table.

Their win moved them to level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal, the Gunners having suffered a 1-0 on Saturday in a London derby against West Ham. They are now positioned six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and that is the gap which they have to try and reel in over the second half of the season to secure Champions League football next term.

The Red Devils are now 9/4 at bet365 to get a top-four finish following their win over Spurs* (betting odds taken from bet365 on January 13th, 2019 at 8:43 pm). With Arsenal having fallen away in form, the resurgent Red Devils are suddenly looking like the ones who are going to closely challenge Chelsea for that fourth spot.

Maurizio Sarri’s Blues, who earned a 2-1 home win over Newcastle on the weekend are 1/3 odds-on to land a top-four finish* (betting odds taken from bet365 on January 13th, 2019 at 8:43 pm).
