Manchester United v Reading Preview

A change of manager clearly does have a big effect. Manchester United are finding that out as they have started to look more relaxed and positive. There are still defensive flaws which need to be ironed out though. The Red Devils start their FA Cup campaign on home soil, as was the case last season when they hosted a Championship side then. Manchester United beat Derby 2-0 in last season’s FA Cup third round. Manchester United, even through their troubled season have had a fairly decent home run this season. They have won their last three on the bounce there and are unbeaten in seven (W5 D2) at Old Trafford. Manchester United have produced at least two goals in each of their last four home fixtures.

Reading have been having a difficult season of their own. With just four league successes having been recorded, they are sat second from bottom in the Championship currently. Looking at how they have performed on their travels this season, Reading have produced only the one away success all season and that was a league win at Preston back in mid-September. The Royals have lost five of their last nine away games (D4). A lack of away goals from them is pretty glaring really. They have produced only in their last seven games on the road. Reading have lost their last five games against Manchester United and are winless in fifteen meetings with them. Their most recent FA Cup meeting happened 2013 with Manchester United winning 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United v Reading Predictions

Manchester United to win: It has clearly been better for United since the change of managers. They should have more than enough to land the victory at Old Trafford in this one.
