Despite tweets from Tony Fernandes during QPR’s defeat at home against Southampton, online bookmaker Skybet were quick to offer odds of 5/6 that boss Mark Hughes will have left Loftus Road by Monday. Rangers slumped to a new low as they were out played in a match against the leaky defence of Southampton. So new a dozen matches into the new Premier League season and QPR have failed to turn up a win. They have earned just four points from their twelve matches this season in a terrible run of form. Going into the weekend, Hughes was 6/4 joint favourite to be the first to lose his job this season.

Ironically it was Saints boss Nigel Adkins who was joint favourite to lose his job along with Hughes. But the 3-1 win for Southampton at Loftus Road has seen the odds on Adkins pushed out after their first away victory of the season. The question now is how much patience does the QPR board have? They are already four points adrift at the bottom of the league, behind Southampton, and five points from possibly getting out of the relegation zone. So they are already in a relegation mess and have the league worst goal difference of minus 14.

So online bookmaker Skybet are expecting the QPR board to react and ring in the changes over the weekend. With a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next weekend, things aren’t getting any easier for the R’s. Who is the most likely to come in and replace Hughes should he get the boot? The clear favourite is former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who the QPR fans have been calling for to come and rescue them.

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: “We expect the board to act with QPR slipping deeper into relegation trouble after a hopeless start to the campaign. “Hughes is clearly not getting the best out of his expensively-assembled squad and Redknapp looks the perfect candidate for the job given the way he has turned around under-performing sides previously, with Tottenham the perfect example.”
