Captain Tom cat 9/2 FAV in Summer Plate Handicap Chase odds

Bang in form at the moment it CAPTAIN TOM CAT who is the 9/2 favourite in Summer Plate Handicap Chase betting* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

It has been three straight victories for him, completing a hattrick 24 days ago at Worcester. Surprisingly the handicapper hasn’t been after him really.

This is a return to handicapping after a couple of novice wins and he’s just been left at a mark that should see him thrive.

It’s been nothing but impressive stuff from him over the fences and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get close to that 4-timer.

Francky Du Berlais
7/1

Solomon Grey can push close

There was a disappointing finish for SOLOMON GREY at Uttoxeter last time out. That was three weeks ago and the 9-year-old lost his rider.

But he was looking very good in the race before that mishap. He may not have been far away from posting his fourth chase win at Uttoxeter.

Solomon Grey has been at Market Rasen before and has gone well here, winning one of two previous efforts. So there is a bit of course form.

He has enough about his form to head the dangers from a quote of 6/1 in Summer Plate racing odds* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

Can improving Fire Away land a hattrick?

FIRE AWAY is on the up at the moment and is easily worth a look from 9/1 in horse racing betting* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

He stretched out his record to five wins in seven runs now for his current yard, winning the last two.

The most recent of those wins was 12 days ago in a novice hurdle at Worcester.

We don’t think that the fences are going to give him any issues as he returns to handicapping.

Fire Away has won four times previously over the fences, just to back up his chances.

That latest win for Fire Away was by a wide margin of seven lengths. He could get in the mix here.

Darling Maltaix likely to be in the picture

There was a superb reappearance run from DARLING MALTAIX 25 days ago. In that, he picked up a victory at Newton Abbot.

That was in a smaller field of four runners, but he looked better than ever and it was after a break of 8 months.

That run at Newton Abbot was the first for Darling Maltaix since a wind op as well. There has been a 3lb rise for Paul Nicholls’ 8-year-old.

But that doesn’t look to be too unreasonable the way that he was shaping at Newton Abbot and he should be even sharper for that run.

Francky Du Berlais to be respected again

Another one to look at in this deep field is FRANCKY DU BERLAIS who has also been in great form this season.

Back in May, he scored back to back wins at Haydock and Uttoxeter. He followed that up with a third-place at Cartmel last time out.

But for the Cartmel effort, Francky Du Berlias was off a career-high mark and he handled himself very well.

That means that he has more than a reasonable chance of getting his nose into this fascinating contest.

Francky Du Berlais is a quote of 9/1 to get the win* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

Others to note

MERCIAN PRINCE isn’t to be totally underestimated for the contest. He has won three of his last four runs, including his latest at Worcester a month ago. He looks to be in the mood to compete.

TEMPLEPARK is another that can get in this. He returns for his first run since a wind-up and gets a tongue-tie for the first time, plus he’s down 1lb.

There is interest in EXELERATOR EXPRESS as well who handled himself well at 10lb up at Uttoxeter last time out. That followed a very good win at Haydock in a chase on his reappearance run.

Predictions & Tips for Summer Plate Handicap Chase Racing Odds

This is a really deep field for this contest and it should be a cracker. There are just claims wherever you look.

CAPTAIN TOM CAT is thriving at the moment and has to be considered for the score.

He’s undefeated over the fences and has plenty of appeal at 9/2 in Summer Plate betting* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

FIRE AWAY looks very interesting as he is just bang on his game at the moment.

He is proven over the fences and returns sharp from hurdles successes so he gets on the shortlist at 9/1* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

The finals shortlist selection is FRANCKY DU BERLAIS who is good enough at 7/1* (odds recorded at 21:25 GMT on July 16th, 2021 at Betway).

The way he handled a new mark at Cartmel three weeks ago was impressive.
