Market Rasen Sunday 17:00: Bet365 offer Even Money racing odds on Playa Blanca – 15th March 2020

Torrid can find his winning touch back at Market Rasen

Horse Racing Betting

This is a class 4 handicap hurdle going down at Market Rasen on Sunday afternoon over a 2m trip.

There are eight entered for the race and leading those in the racing betting market is Playa Blanca.

That is favouritism to the tune of even money after having struck a success as a favourite on his last trip.

Playa Blanca

There is some clear favouritism in this race for Playa Blanca, who is trained by Willie Mullins. The five-year-old delivered a win at Warwick recently as 7/2 FAV.

That was on a 2-mile trip and had plenty in hand as well in the race. He stays at the same mark for Sunday’s outing.

Playa Blanca’s form up to that point for the season wasn’t there, but may just have hit top gear and is even money for the win* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Saturday, 15th March 2020)

Valseur Du Granval e/w
22/1

Mamdood

If Mamdood can find a little bit more, he could be in the frame for this one. He has given a good nod to staying ability in flat contests. He hasn’t quite got the hurdles down yet.

However, there was a marked improvement at Musselburgh when he took a second-place finish after staying on. Does he have more in him for the 9/2 odds on offer* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Saturday, 15th March 2020)?

Torrid

Torrid is a consistent runner without question and has been in the place finish in all but one of his last six runs. His last two trips have been at Market Rasen so it’s a course he knows well.

The concern for punters is the handicapping and that he just can’t seem to find that extra little step to get to the winner’s enclosure.

Certainly has some considerations though to find what he needs at 7/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Saturday, 15th March 2020)

Celestial Magic

After pulling up at Uttoxeter in the summer of 2018, Celestial Magic went on a long absence. The eight-year-old made his return at the end of February and did a credible job of taking third place in a hurdle at Huntington.

After so long away, he is going to need more sharpening up, but that wasn’t a bad effort at all in a class 4 2-mile effort from a field of 14.

He took the place from 20/1 SP. Celestial Magic is in to 14/1 for this run* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Saturday, 15th March 2020)

Rest of the Runners

Valseur Du Grand Val is not going to have the greatest of appeal. The form has been crazy having gone P7P7P in his last five trips. The eleven-year-old is talented, but badly out of sorts.

Smashing Lass is a four-year-old looking for some experience, certainly in this kind of company. The progress that has been made on the flat and over hurdles hasn’t been sparkling.

Scrutinise came into some good form in December, landing back to back wins at Plumpton. He took a third-place finish at Market Rasen in November too. Scrutinise has struggled since off a higher mark.

Predictions & Tips

Playa Blanca has to be recognised for this as he stays at the same market after his win at Warwick last time out (conditionals). So he is likely to be well in the frame.

But there is a big interest in the racing betting market for Torrid. He has already taken a couple of place finishes at Market Rasen which piques interest, even though he gives a couple of lbs to the favourite.

He’s been knocking on the door and can produce. Valseur Du Granval, worth an e/w or not? He’s a classy horse just badly out of form. A return to hurdles could be just what he needs.
