Masters Darts Betting Favourite – Gerwyn Price

GERWYN PRICE is the 7/2 favourite to land the top prize in this year’s Masters Darts betting odds* (odds recorded at 05:19 GMT on 26th January 2022 at Ladbrokes).

The action kicks off on Friday night at the tournament.

The World Number One Gerwyn Price will enter the fray in the second round along with the rest of the Top 16.

Price will face either Ryan Searle or last year’s runner-up Mervyn King in the Second Round of this year’s PDC Masters Darts.

There was a semi-final exit for Price last year at the Masters, the closest in four previous attempts, that he has got to the title.

Can he take it all the way? He has only fallen short of the Quarter Finals in one of his four previous attempts.

Main Contenders Masters Darts Betting

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is in the draw as he looks to try and end a long barren spell in televised tournaments. There wasn’t a single one for MVG in 2021 and a Third Round exit at this year’s World Championships sees his struggles continue.

He’s still one of the best at the oche and can’t be dismissed. Van Gerwen is a five-time winner of The Masters but hasn’t made it past the second round in the last two visits.

PETER WRIGHT has some big wind in his sails at the moment after winning the PDC World Championship earlier this year, for the second time in his career.

His previous success in the World Championship was in 2020 and ‘Snakebite’ also went on to pick up the Masters that year as well. Will history repeat itself?

Masters Darts Outsiders

GARY ANDERSON had a bit of revival when he made a deep run to the semi-finals of the recent PDC World Championship. It’s been a fair while since he landed a televised title, however, and the Masters has eluded him.

Anderson’s best finish at the event was a losing Finalist in 2017, and he has made the semi-finals on three other occasions.

JONNY CLAYTON came from nowhere to win the Masters last year. It wasn’t a fluke either as he also won the Premier League Darts, the World Series of Darts Finals and the World Grand Prix. Is a title defence out of the question?

Another player who produced some form at the PDC World Championship was JAMES WADE, who was a losing semi-finalist.

‘The Machine’ still has major titles in him, as he showed in taking the UK Open last year. He won the Masters in 2014 and was also a runner-up in 2019. Wade could make his presence felt and the draw has been fairly kind to him.

Masters Darts Prediction

The action comes thick and fast at the Masters. There has been one big withdrawal as Nathan Aspinall isn’t appearing because of an injury.

The front-runner has to be PETER WRIGHT at 9/2 in PDC Masters Darts odds 2022* (odds recorded at 05:19 GMT on 26th January 2022 at Ladbrokes).

He was in cracking form when he took the World Championship title earlier this month, and a repeat of a Masters title wouldn’t be a shock.

As the dark horse play, that could be JAMES WADE. He gets a slightly easier route through the top half of the draw than Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton do, as those could meet in the quarters.

Wade is at 28/1 outright* (odds recorded at 05:19 GMT on 26th January 2022 at Ladbrokes).
