Metz News and Form – Can the hosts make life difficult for PSG?
Metz stormed their way to the Ligue 2 title last season. Frederic Antonetti’s men were the real deal in the second tier, finishing on an outstanding 81 points. The Maroons won 24, drew nine and lost just five along the way.
Metz were good at home, winning 13, drawing three and losing three of their 19 league matches at the Stade Saint-Symphorien. Away from home, meanwhile, Metz were beaten just twice, collecting a superb 39 points from a possible 57.
Metz have started life back in France’s top flight with four points from their opening three games. On the opening weekend, the Lorraine-based club battled to a 1-1 draw at Strasbourg. They then secured an impressive 3-0 home win over Monaco, with Habib Diallo (2) and Renaud Cohade getting the goals.
Unfortunately, the Maroons crashed to a 3-0 defeat away at Angers last time out. Nevertheless, Metz have been very competitive on their return to Ligue 1 so far. Can they cause a huge upset against the champions on Friday?

Paris Saint Germain News and Form – Easy win for the champions?
Champions Paris Saint Germain got the new season up and running with a 2-1 victory over Rennes in the Trophee des Champions in early August. Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria, who both had fine seasons last time around, got the goals in China.
Mbappe and Di Maria were also on the scoresheet in PSG’s comfortable victory over Nimes on the opening weekend of the league season. Edinson Cavani also netted in the 3-0 triumph at the Parc des Princes.
However, the champions were brought back down to earth with a real thump on matchday two of the Ligue 1 season. Despite being the strong favourites against Rennes, Tuchel’s troops crashed to a shock 2-1 defeat at Roazhon Park. Paris took the lead, but goals either side of the break by M’Baye Niang and Romain Del Castillo won the points for the hosts.
Paris Saint Germain hit back with a big three points at the first time of asking last Sunday. PSG ran riot in the French capital against Toulouse, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting being the unlikely hero, as the former Stoke City man netted twice. There were also goals for Mathieu Goncalves and Marquinhos.
Despite their hefty win over Toulouse, Tuchel & Co. will still be hurting after their recent loss at Rennes. Nevertheless, Paris are more than capable of securing a big win on the road this Friday night.

Metz v Paris Saint Germain Predictions
Paris Saint Germain win: Champions PSG were the best away side in Ligue 1 last term, winning 12 of 19 matches on the road to take 38 points. However, they were beaten five times away from home along the way, and Tuchel’s men started this season with an away loss at Rennes. The champions will be looking for a big response at Metz this Friday, and they should be too strong. PSG to win -1 is nicely priced at 11/10.
Apart from their surprise defeat at Rennes, Paris have looked their usual dominant selves this term, winning two of their three Ligue 1 games without conceding. Back the Parisians to win to nil on Friday at 7/5.
