Middlesbrough v Burton Betting Preview – Championship 15th August 7.45pm

It hasn’t been a great start from Burton, one of the favourites to get relegated this season down to League One. They have lost back to back games so far and they shipped four goals on the road at Hull just on the weekend. Boro don’t have that kind of scoring power in them, but they are naturally going to kick off as strong favourites to win this one on home. Boro will be looking to bounce back after losing on the road at Wolves on the weekend.

Middlesbrough v Burton Betting Tips

Well, it remains to be seen whether or not Boro have any real attacking muscle in their ranks. If they do, it hasn’t shown up yet. They lost their season opener 1-0 at Wolves and then ground out a 1-0 home win over Sheffield United on the weekend. So that was a welcome three points from them, but there will be questions over their lack of serious output up front so far. They haven’t looked particularly potent yet so are their goal-scoring struggles from last season following them? Under 2.5 goals at Coral is running at a price of 19/20. This will be Boro’s first competitive meeting with Burton and they will be hoping that they kind find some form at the Riverside. In the Coral correct score market, a Middlesbrough 1-0 and a Middlesbrough 2-0 result are joint 11/2 favourites. On the face of things, it’s unlikely that a win for Boro will get any bigger than a 2-0 option, even though their opponents are struggling.

Boro have Britt Assombalonga as 4/6 outright favourite in the anytime goalscorer market while Rudy Gestede, who got their winner against the Blades on the weekend is a 7/5 option. It’s not been a good start from Burton so far then in this season’s Championship. After losing 1-0 at home against Cardiff on the opening weekend, they went to Hull over the weekend and lost 4-1. For a side that only just managed to stave off relegation last season, that’s not the kind of start that you want. Burton only won four games out on the road last season but down the final stretch, they did only lose one of their last seven on the road in the Championship. They may struggle to break down Boro in this one and both teams not to score at Coral is a price of 8/11. They would probably be happy with a point out of their first ever league visit to the Riverside under the circumstances.

Middlesbrough v Burton Betting Odds

Middlesbrough 1/2, Draw 3/1, Burton 5/1.

Middlesbrough v Burton Predictions

Boro to win: Hard to see Boro slipping up in this one. Granted they don’t look that threatening going forward but defensively they are solid enough to go out and win a game to nil at home against the bottom side in the division. There will be inquiries if they don’t.
