Millwall News and Form – Will the Lions make it three home wins on the spin?

Millwall have been very strong at The Den so far this term. They beat Preston North End 1-0 at home on the opening weekend of the season, with Jed Wallace’s first-half goal doing the business for the Lions. Meanwhile, in their last home match, Matt Smith’s goal was enough to give the Lions a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Since then, however, Millwall have taken just one point from two tough away games. Neil Harris’ men were outplayed at Craven Cottage, crashing to a 4-0 defeat to London rivals Fulham. However, they did hit back with a solid 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium last weekend.

Overall, the club from south London have taken a respectable eight points from their opening five games. Millwall sit tenth in the table having won two, drawn two and lost one. The Lions were in a relegation scrap last term, but they will be aiming a little higher this time around.

Millwall have won each of their first two home matches this term; can they make it a hat-trick of Championship wins at The Den at the weekend?

Hull City News and Form – Can McCann’s men pick up their first away league win?

To say the least, it’s been a slow start to the season for Hull City. Nigel Adkins certainly put the club in the right direction last term, but the former Reading and Southampton boss opted to leave the KCOM Stadium in the summer, with Grant McCann, who guided Doncaster Rovers to the EFL League One play-offs last season, taking over.

The Tigers took four points from their opening three games, losing at Swansea City, beating Reading and drawing with Brentford (both at the KCOM). Since then, though, City have fallen to back-to-back losses.

Having lost 1-0 to Blackburn Rovers on home soil, Hull were beaten by Bristol City at the KCOM last Saturday. After going a goal down to the in-form Robins, Jarrod Bowen levelled things up for the Tigers before the break. Unfortunately, late goals from Benik Afobe and Reece Burke won the points for Lee Johnson’s side.

Hull find themselves just above the drop zone in 20th place at the moment. The club have won one, drawn one and lost three to take just four points from a possible 15. Can they claim a first away league win of the season at The Den on Saturday afternoon?

Millwall v Hull City Predictions

Millwall win: The Lions have been very solid on their own patch so far this season, keeping clean sheets in wins over Preston and Sheffield Wednesday. As for Hull, despite picking up a 3-0 victory at Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup, they have taken just one point from two away league fixtures. With this one taking place at The Den, Millwall should edge it. The hosts are priced at 11/10.

Matt Smith, who made the switch to Millwall from Queens Park Rangers in the summer, has started his Lions career with two goals already. The big striker is always a handful for defenders, and the 30-year-old is available at 15/8 to score anytime in this one.
