Mourinho trimmed to even odds in Next Manager To Go betting market

Mourinho out? Who will come in?

Premier League Betting

Is Jose Mourinho heading for the Stamford Bridge exit? There were extensive talks by the Chelsea board this week, discussing the future of The Special One and after Chelsea’s latest league defeat of the season, their ninth of the term, bookmakers trimmed the odds on Mourinho to be the next Premier League manager to go.

Mourinho has been pulled into a price of 8/11 with online betting site Coral to be the next manager out of the door in the Premier League. Now that Garry Monk has been given the push by Swansea, Mourinho really is next on the managerial firing line. Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal is second favourite in the market at a price of 2/1 after the Red Devils were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Chelsea head into the weekend’s Premier League action just one point above the drop zone and with just one win in their last six games. While they have progressed to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, five defeats in their last seven league games and just two goals in their last five league outings has seen the reigning champions fall from grace with a bang.

It does off course open the question about who would replace Mourinho? Former boss Carlo Ancelotti is a 4/1 favourite but on the drift after rumours that he is being lined up to go to Bayern Munich next season when Pep Guardiola’s contract expires there. Fabio Capello is 5/1, Deigo Someone 7/1 and Pep Guardiola 8/1 are the main challengers in the Next Chelsea manager betting market.

The latter of course is the big name here. Pep Guardiola is out of contract next summer from Bayern Munich and is probably one of the very few men who replace Jose Mourinho. That is the dilemma for Chelsea, finding a genuine replacement for The Special One. Guardiola would fit the bill perfectly but has strongly been linked to a move to Manchester City instead so it probably a move for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone which would probably be the best fit.
