Hooves to make an imprint at Musselburgh

Horse Racing Betting

Following the inclement weather of the last few days, jump racing is attempting to restore the equlibrium.

Musselburgh is an emergency addition to the fixture list but trainers from up and down the country, and also Ireland, have responded the rallying cry and supported the meeting so that three of the seven races have double-figure entries.

The Racing Post Gonorth Weekend Stable Open Days Handicap Chase, a qualifier for the Northern Lights Staying Series, is not the most compelling race on the card but does feature an up-and-coming youngster probably worth following.

Can Hooves put best foot forward again?

On just his third outing over fences, Dr Hooves won over 3m at Musselburgh.
It’s difficult to imagine that the seven-year-old won’t improve further and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair as he takes on more exposed opposition.

Ginger will be happy to be facing fences again

After two wins over the larger obstacles around the turn of the year, Pinch Of Ginger was given an outing over hurdles at Newcastle.
Chasing is his game but he’s gone up another 6lb and it’s starting to look as the handicapper has his measure.

Satisfied’s connections hope a return to favourite venue will spark revival

So Satisfied has won twice at Musselburgh, the last time a year ago when 4lb higher in the weights.
Iain Jardine’s runner will almost certainly have needed his run at Catterick, his first since pulled up at Catterick last May, and there is some value in the 7/1 with Bet365.

Ceremony out to make amends

Oscar Ceremony’s run at Huntingdon in December was simply too bad to be true.
In good form at Kelso in the autumn, Stef Keniry has given the nine-year-old a few weeks off and better is expected at the 6/1 with Bet365.

Boy aiming to find the road back to winning ways

Achill Road Boy was runner-up at Musselburgh on his latest outing but he is really an out-and-out stayer who finds 3m an insufficient test of stamina.
Aged 11, the veteran is not particularly well handicapped either which is another reason why punters may want to look elsewhere.
