Dark Vader hard to oppose for Naas trip

Horse Racing Betting

There are 14 entered for the Naas 15:00 betting which is a 6f handicap. So there is a big field here to dig through but there have been a couple of well-supported names at the head of the betting market. Dark Vader was just edging favouritism on Sunday night ahead of the contest.

Dark Vader

There has been very solid form from Dark Vader recently and it is no surprise to find him at the head of the market to the tune of 11/4* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:35 GMT on Sunday 22nd March 2020).

He has won three times on the all-weather before at Dundalk, which was where his most recent run and win was. That score happened in mid-March.

That’s two wins in his last three runs now that Dark Vader has produced. There is plenty of improvement still to come from the three-year-old.

A great strength of his looks to be in dealing with pressure and still finding more when he needs it. Dark Vader has all the tools to win this one.

Mokhalad

Mokhalad makes his return after a lengthy absence. The last run that the seven-year old took was in early November, claiming a fourth-place finish here at Naas.

Interestingly he has won both previous trips at course and distance, however.

While his current form has been lacking that winning spark, a return here to C&D has to give Mokhalad big claims at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:35 GMT on Sunday 22nd March 2020).

Arcanears

He likes the all-weather so it will be interesting to see how he goes on the turf on Monday. His last three runs have been in the all-weather at Dundalk, where Arcanears have taken a win and two second-place finishes.

So the form is there and he makes a reappearance in his particular race. Twelve months ago he was second and he is going up a bit in weight but can challenge from his 6/1 mark* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:35 GMT on Sunday 22nd March 2020).

Tresorier

Treseorier secured a second-place finish at Leopardstown and if he was to come up with the win it wouldn’t totally be out of turn. He looks as if he is heading towards one.

The form is improving and if there had been a clearer run at Leopardstown in his last run, he could have struck that victory.

Is a former distance winner and could go much better than his 8th place on his last 6f trip at Naas a year ago. One to be watch at 15/2* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:35 GMT on Sunday 22nd March 2020).

Sendmylovetoyou

Sendmylovetoyou is only heading into her fourth race. The most recent one that she was in October last year when she was at the back of the field on a 5f trip.

But she did open with a win on her debut at Curragh back in August last year and impressed on her handicap debut at the same venue a month later. The unexposed youngster should be much fresher now and could compete for a place finish at 15/2 .

Worthy Mentions

TITANIUM SKY is an interesting one in the field as she lines up for her handicap debut. She has stuck at the 7f-1m distances in her career so there is the unknown over the trip. A useful runner nonetheless and a decent outsider to consider.

There was a win for a six-year-old FASTAR on his last trip. That was at the back end of last year at Wolverhampton. He hasn’t been out since so could be a danger after hitting top form and now being well-rested. It’s been a long time since he challenged at 6f however.

Another of the interesting outside options is ROYAL CANFORD, a previous distance winner. He scored at Curragh in September last year at the 6f trip. Never quite delivered on two subsequent trips at Navan at shorter distances. May enjoy the return to 6f and drops 3lb as well.

Predictions & Tips

There is a good race in store for this one and it is DARK VADER who is righty going to be feared the most in the contest. Few can argue with the form of the progressive three-year-old.

However, with that having been said, there does look to be value in taking TRESORIER to launch a challenge to him. He was a little bit out of luck at Leopardstown on his last trip in not getting a clear run. He may be able to make amends and is a value pick.

Also being able to push for a place claim at the very least is ARCANEARS who was second in this race twelve months ago. Is up in weight, but can easily enjoy a profitable return to Naas.
