Nations League Tips & Odds – 19th November 2018

Monday will be the penultimate day of Nations League action for the group stage at least. There are still issues around the league to be settled and some of Monday’s big games include Germany v Netherlands, in which the Dutch need to win to top their group, while the relegated Ireland will be looking to restore some pride as they visit Denmark.

Here though we take a look at some of the other action for Nations League tips and predictions on Monday, 19th November.

Czech Republic v Slovakia

The ink is all dry on the promotion part of group B1 in the Nations League. Ukraine have slept their way to the title having completed their four games with a W3 L1 record. That leaves a battle to avoid relegation between the Czech Republic and Slovakia on Monday. They are both sat on three points with the Czech’s having beaten Slovakia 2-1 away from home. So that means they are up in the head to head and that Slovakia have to win this by a two-goal margin to get through. So there’s a tough challenge ahead of them here but what makes it interesting is that they were the only ones to beat Ukraine in the group and did so with a resounding home 4-1 win. Still, away games are never easy and while this is such an even game, the Czech’s should have and edge at home. They only need a point.

The home side need a point and we can’t help but lean on the draw because of that. It’s just been all so tight between the two of them aside from Slovakia impressing in a win over Ukraine. We think this will balance out into parity. Draw at 12/5 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 7:50 pm)

Cyprus v Norway

Cyprus have been scraping and hanging on to their Nations League survival hopes in C3. They have drawn their last two games, including a good point against the second, placed Bulgaria over the weekend. They are unbeaten on home soil, the draw with the Bulgarians and a win over bottom side Slovenia. Cyprus are guaranteed a third-place finish in this group and it means they are still at risk of being the worst of the third-place finishers in League C which means relegation. A point here against leaders Norway could give them enough. Norway though are W3 D1 L1 in their five games in the group and they have an incentive not to switch off. They need to better whatever Bulgaria do on the way to earn promotion. If Norway and Bulgaria both lose, it’s down to goal difference or goals scored. If they both draw, Norway get the top spot on overall goal difference.

Norway can’t let up here as they have seen Bulgaria peg them back. It’s a tight duel now, but we are going to trust the Norwegians enough to get the win by a one-goal margin. Norway to win by a 1 goal margin is at 12/5 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 7:50 pm).

Bulgaria v Slovenia

Can Bulgaria handle the pressure at home? They are in second place in C3 but level on points with leaders Norway. On Monday Bulgaria have to try and better whatever points Norway pick up in their game at Cyprus. If these two both win their games it’s going to be goal difficult to split them. If they both lose it’s the same thing. If they both draw, the top spot goes to Norway. Basically, Bulgaria have to throw the kitchen sink at this and they will be happy with this fixture. It is against the bottom side in the group Slovenia who have only collected two points from their five games so far. They have lost both of their away games too.

Slovenia’s two away defeats in the group were by one goal margins at top side Norway and Cyprus. All of Bulgaria’s wins in the group have been by that margin. So Bulgaria to win by a 1 goal margin is at 5/2 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 7:50 pm).

Lichtenstein v Armenia

Liechtenstein are not down and out yet in D4. They are bottom of the pile as they go into their final game and need help not to end up there. They start the game three points behind Gibraltar and so need to win this game and then see Gibraltar lose their game. The big question is, can Liechtenstein raise themselves for such a challenge. The are W1 L4 in the group and their one win happened against Gibraltar. They lost 2-1 at Armenia earlier in the group so weren’t overwhelmed there. But then no-one has scored more goals in this group than the Armenians have. Armenia have a chance at winning the group as well (with a wing and a defeat for Macedonia).

The fact that Armenia are scrapping for top sport and the fact that they are the top scorers in the division and have beaten Lichtenstein once, we are leaning on the away win but the one goal margin at 5/2 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 7:50 pm).
