Nations League Tips – October 20th, 2018

This is then, the final matches of the 2018 UEFA Nations League group phase. Scotland v Israel should be one of the big highlights of the night as that is a winner-takes-all scenario to earn promotion. It is the same scenario in the Sweden v Russia game, whoever wins takes the top spot. So there is still some exciting stuff to come.

Here we take a look at the Nations League tips and predictions from other games happening on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018

Serbia v Lithuania

Serbia are top of C4 in the Nations League and a win will make sure that they stay there. A draw could pull second-placed Romania into the equation if they beat Montenegro in their game. So there is work for Serbia to do, but it is against the bottom side in the group. Lithuania already know that they are going to be playing in the bottom tier next time around in the Nations League as they have failed to collect a single point in their five games. They have scored just the two and have collected over two goals per game. Serbia should coast to their win.

This should be easy enough for Serbia who took a 1-0 away win at Lithuania earlier in the campaign. We are going to predict that they can win by a bigger margin than that, but still without conceding. Serbia to win to nil is at 1/2 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 10:00 pm).

Montenegro v Romania

Montenegro have missed their shot at winning this group and can finish no higher than second. In order to get into second then they have to beat Romania in this game. Romania have much higher stakes up for grabs in the game as they are still on the hunt for a group win. They have to win this game while hope that Serbia fail to beat bottom side Lithuania in their game on the night. Frankly, that latter scenario doesn’t seem too likely. Anyway, because Romania actually have a bit at stake in this one, you imagine that they are going to produce a positive performance in the game. They have scored exactly two goals in each of their away games in the group.

Montenegro lost at home against group leaders Serbia and we feel that Romania, with what is at stake at the top potentially, can go there and win as well. A nice Romania 7/4 odds-against price is a nice option* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 10:00 pm).

Kosovo v Azerbaijan

Just because we are looking at game it doesn’t mean that we would be tuning in getting all excited about it. But even games like this can bring some great betting opportunities. This is D3 action and it is a big one as well. It is a winner-takes-all scenario as whoever gets maximum points wins the group. Kosovo are doing so well in this group to be in this position at the top with a two-point cushion. So it means that they have the safety net of at least only needed to get out the game with a draw. When the two met in Azerbaijan there was a 0-0 draw played out. Kosovo have scored 11 and conceded 2 along the way in the group other than that and have netted five goals in their two home games.

What a big moment this could be for Kosovo. Both are actually in decent form (given the standard of opposition that they are facing) and we feel that there should be enough on home soil to see Kosovo hang on for a draw. Match outright draw at 12/5 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 10:00 pm).

Malta v Faroe Islands

This is D3 action to avoid the wooden spoon. Malta are rock bottom of the pile with two points from their five games. But if they were to bust out a home win here then they would jump above the Faroe Islands. When they met earlier in the group the Faroe Islands romped to a 3-1 success. Strangely Malta held Azerbaijan (who have a chance to win the group on Tuesday) to back to back 1-1 draw in the group. So it shows they can stick in there. Both sides have only scored four goals in their respective Nations League campaign, but Malta’s defence has taken more of a battering. This is a tricky game to call. Do you put it on the line and back Faroe Islands to win an away game? Arguably they are the better of the two sides here. But Malta won their one previous home game against the Faroe Islands 3-2 back in 2013.

We’re not sure which way to go here, but we are looking over 2.5 goals at 11/8 odds* (betting odds taken on November 18th, 2018 at 10:00 pm). Yes, over. Each of the last three meetings between these two minors have produced at least four goals.
