Netherlands v Germany Preview

The Netherlands recorded a 4-0 home success over Belarus on Thursday to start their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. Now comes their toughest home fixture in the campaign as they play host to Germany. If the Dutch can make it maximum points from two fixtures they would be off to a fantastic start on the road to Euro 2020. In their Nations League campaign, the Netherlands topped their group ahead of France and Germany.

They are undefeated in their last four fixtures which saw them take home successes over the Germans and France while earning away draws at Belgium and Germany. The Netherlands have suffered just the one defeat in their last nine international fixtures, winning four of those. The Netherlands have won each of their last three home games, scoring a least two goals in each of those. The last six meetings between the two rivals have ended up over 2.5 goals.

Key-Facts – Netherlands v Germany

  • The Netherlands have won their last three home international fixtures
  • All but one of the last six meetings gone over the 2.5 goals line
  • Germany are winless in their last three fixtures against the Dutch (D2 L1)

Germany are still going through a tough touch of form at the moment. After crashing out of the World Cup 2018 group stage, they found themselves getting relegated from their UEFA Nations League group as well. In their Nations League campaign they lost both of their away games against the Netherlands and France. It leaves Germany with just two victories in their last eight internationals. In midweek they faced Serbia in a friendly playing out a 1-1 draw, but Germany tested a lot of youngsters in the fixture.

Germany have been struggling defensively and they have managed to keep just the two clean sheets in their last 14 international fixtures. Not counting fixtures at the 2018 World Cup, Germany have lost their last three away fixtures. This is their toughest match of the Euro 2020 qualification group and they will be hoping for some kind of showing of strength in Amsterdam. Germany have failed to score in their last two visits to the Netherlands.

Netherlands v Germany Predictions

Netherlands to win: At the moment the Netherlands appear to be on top between these two great rivals. They looked impressive on home soil in beating Die Mannschaft in the Nations League and look a solid proposition to go out and reduce a repeat performance. Netherlands to win at 7/5* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 22nd, 2019 at 8:34 p.m.)
