New York City News and Form – Rare home victory for the Blues?
Since crashing to a heavy 4-0 defeat to Toronto FC back in late March, New York City have gone nine games unbeaten in MLS, winning four and drawing five. Overall, the Bronx Blues have won four, drawn eight and lost just one of their opening 13 matchups. No side in this season’s MLS have drawn more matches than New York so far.
After winning 2-0 at LA Galaxy last month, City’s last two encounters have ended in draws. An Alexandru Mitrita goal was enough to give New York a 1-1 draw at Chicago Fire, which they followed up with a 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew at Mapfre Stadium last time out. In last weekend’s stalemate in Ohio, the Blues came from behind twice to preserve their unbeaten record.
New York City are undefeated at the Yankee Stadium this term. However, Torrent’s team have won only one of their five home league fixtures, with the other four ending in draws. Meanwhile, the Pigeons have scored just four in five MLS matches on their own patch thus far.
