New York City News and Form – Blues back to winning ways?

Domenec Torrent’s New York City have been in patchy form in MLS of late, winning two and losing three of their last five. Prior to that, the Boys in Blue had gone 12 league games unbeaten, winning seven and drawing five.

Last weekend, New York crashed to a somewhat surprise defeat at Real Salt Lake. Despite Alexander Ring putting the Blues in front after just four minutes, goals from Jefferson Savarino, Albert Rusnak and Nick Besler were enough to give the home team a 3-1 win at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

Houston Dynamo News and Form – Another defeat on the road for Dynamo?

Houston head to the Yankee Stadium in very poor form, as Matt Jordan’s boys have lost nine of their last 12 MLS fixtures. Since securing an impressive 3-1 victory at Toronto a few weeks back, Orange Crush have suffered back-to-back home defeats to Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire.

In fact, Dynamo have been woeful at the BBVA Stadium in recent weeks, losing successive home games to Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago. Prior to that poor run, Houston had won seven and drawn three of their opening ten home league games. Last weekend, Nemanja Nikolic’s goal on the stroke of half time gave Fire a 1-0 victory in Texas.

Away from home, Houston have been terrible all season, losing eight of their ten away fixtures. However, they stopped a run of eighth consecutive away league losses in their previous away matchup, beating Toronto 3-1 at BMO Field.

Overall, Houston have won nine, drawn three and lost 11 of their 23 MLS encounters so far. The Texas club find themselves in ninth spot in the Western Conference with just 30 points to their name.
