Dark Silver

The 2/1 favourite for this Newcastle trip is Dark Silver* (betting odds taken from bet365 at 22:36 GMT on Thursday 27th February).

He was a beaten favourite last time out which was in an appearance at Lingfield in January.

Dark Silver took third place in the contest behind Badri by four lengths at class 5.

He is still looking for his first career win, so will this be his moment up in the northeast? But will the fact that he has not taken any of chances yet, deter punters?

Mountain Brave
4/1

Mountain Brave

Mountain Brave looks to be heading to Newcastle with some strong claims for this fixture. She landed her win on her last run, a 7f effort at Wolverhampton and she totally breezed it.

She was well in control of her situation right from the off and now that the dam has broken, can she follow it up with another success from a 4/1 mark on Friday* (betting odds taken from bet365 at 22:36 GMT on Thursday 27th February)?

Dream Game

Dream Game comes into the picture with a win in her last race as well. That was a victory at Newcastle earlier in February from 13/2.

It was a shorter trip that it came in through, a 5f effort. But there was plenty in her there as she stormed the field at a minimum distance.

Dream Game could step up easily enough and will have appeal at 4/1 odds* (betting odds taken from bet365 at 22:36 GMT on Thursday 27th February).

Speed Merchant

A second-place finish for Speed Merchant for trainer Michael Appley showed some progress. That was a trip at Southwell at 6f just last month.

It was a second of four that he took, but still, it was a good work out. It added to a previous distance win that he had secured.

Speed Merchant has actually won three times between 6f and 7f on the all-weather so has some claims at 5/1* (betting odds taken from bet365 at 22:36 GMT on Thursday 27th February)

The rest of the runners

Sara’s Hope last had a run out in July last year. He finished an eighth of ten there. That was just one of three runs that he has had and from those efforts, he has claimed just one win.

Cece Ceylon has not managed a place finish from five starts so far. She was 6th of 11 in her last trip which was at Wolverhampton in September. She has moved stables since then.

Lady Latte had a forgettable 9th of 11 finish on her last outing. She took on a 1m trip for the contest. She is 3lb out of this class 5 handicap.

Predictions & Tips

There are some tough calls to make in his one if you look from a perspective of who you can scratch off.

Dark Silver heads the market but we will take a pass because he really should have racked up a win by now after having been in winnable races.

Dream Game and Speed Merchant both have some decent claims about them. The former notably produced a very good run at a minimum distance at Newcastle in her last effort.

But it is Mountain Brave that ticks the boxes for this one. She looked strong on her handicap debut at 7f to get the win and can easily handle this slightly shorter trip.
