Millicent Fawcett

A win on her last run puts Millicent Fawcett well into the frame for this race. She was out on a 1m 1f trip for her latest run, which was at Wolverhampton in early December last year.

Trained by John Gosden, this is going to be a big step up in class for Millicent Fawcett who has not been higher than class five company before. From her four previous starts, she has a win and two place finishes.

So goes under handicap for the first time on Thursday but looks to have plenty to give. She has been well backed as the 11/10 favourite* (Betting Odds taken from William Hill on February 26th 2020 at 23:19 GMT).

Geizy Teizy

Is Geizy Teizy the bigger threat to Millicent Fawcett in this one? The market thinks so. She was last out at Chelmsford earlier this month in a 1m trip in which she came home second.

That was from a price of 4/1. She has claimed wins at 1m 1f and 1m 2f. Her last win was recorded in late December last year at Wolverhampton up at class 2.

She has been consistently running against higher company than what Millicent Fawcett has. Geizy Teizy lines up as the 9/2 second favourite* (Betting Odds taken from William Hill on February 26th 2020 at 23:19 GMT)

Dandy’s Gold and Kwela

Coming into the fixture with wins under their belt from their most recent runs are Kwela and Dandy’s Gold. Staring with the latter, she earned a victory at Newcastle earlier this month from 13/2. That was over the competitive National Anthem.

It was a massive return to form from her, having had a really disappointing time of things since march last year. The notable thing is that she did hit top form twelve months ago and is at 13/1 for this challenge* (Betting Odds taken from William Hill on February 26th 2020 at 23:19 GMT).

Kwela secured a very good class 2 win at Wolverhampton at the end of January for trainer Eve Johnson Houghton. That was her first success at at a distance of at least 1m, which is a great sign for this one. That is two very good runs that she has had under her belt in the calendar year. The four year old is easily a threat here at 6/1* (Betting Odds taken from William Hill on February 26th 2020 at 23:19 GMT)

The Rest of the Runners

Exceed Loose was a third place finisher at Chelmsford in a 1m trip earlier this month. That was from a mark of 8/1 and she was only edged out by half a length in that one.

Caustic Love hasn’t ran since September last year. On that last trip she trailed home second from last. She is actually the only one of two in the field who has won at this exact distance before, which was at Ripon last year.

Roman Spinner may not be totally out of the picture here, but is taking on a raise in class. Her last trip was a 1m handicap at Kempton earlier this month where she was fourth of six.

Predictions & Tips

Millicent Fawcett looks like such a great prospect but this is not an easy field for her to take on as she is still progressing. We think that there is enough to oppose her.

Dandy’s Gold does pique interest but taking a 7lb hike which we will pass on her and turn our attention to Kwela. She is a consistent runners and is used to higher class action than this and can make an impression.

It’s not too likely that Geizy Teizy is going to be far from the winning frame as well. This could be a cracker of a race but Kwela gets our nod after a good showing in a decent handicap last time out.
