Kicking off our racing preview for Friday is the EBF Rosemary Stakes. It’s a big field of 17 and heading up the market is CLOAK OF SPIRITS at 10/3* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

On her return to action for this season, she posted a second-place finish in the 1000 Guineas over course and distance. She has been in the picture on each of her four following runs so there is consistency there.

Cloak Of Spirits was last seen in the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster where she put in a very credible fifth-place finish. She has to enter the calculations on Friday.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

BIZZI LIZZI remains unbeaten from her two racetrack appearances so far. The question here about her chances will be over the dramatic jump up in class.

Her last run was at Wolverhampton though and it was a very impressive win because there was a lot asked of her on that occasion. She delivered and can be a threat in this one too.

BOUNCE THE BLUES looks to be bang in form at the moment and she put in a great run at the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster on her last run, finishing ahead of Cloak Of Spirits. That was her first run for her new yard as well, and she has Oisin Murphy will be in the saddle.

Before that, she had landed a win in a Listed trip at Naas. Bounce The Blues is our tip at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

One more from this big field is UMMALNAR who is coming back to action after more than a year away from the action. She signed off with a win and she is still very low mileage for a five year old.

She is a quality operator but how sharp will she be? If Ummalnar is fresh and sharp and then she could get in the frame.

At the head of this small field is ALPINISTA at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020). She is getting better as the season ticks on and last month she got a win on the board.

That was on her second trip of the season and it was in a Listed race at Salisbury. There was further progress for the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alpinist when she took second in the Yorkshire Oaks, behind only Love. That was on her first crack at this distance as well. She gets the nod from us.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

KATARA is easily the biggest threat to the favourite in this one as she is sitting on a hattrick. Those back to back wins have been by impressive margins as well and the one was at a mile and a half in August.

So she has come on leaps and bounds and should be a big player with Ryan Moore in the saddle.

It is probably worth revisiting FRANCONIA as well, backing her to come good after a bit of a poor show last time out. She picked up a reappearance victory at Newbury back in June and then followed it up with a score at York.

Franconia was in the Yorkshire Oaks as well, but wasn’t running well and was eased. But she’s not to be written off.

MONDAY is the current market leader for this Fillies stakes action at Newmarket on Friday, currently trading at 11/8* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020). She delivered a good win last time out.

That came on her second race track appearance in a run at Leopardstown, which was only 9 days after her debut. She looks to be in the frame for this one so we have to have her on the shortlist in what appears to be a very competitive fixture.

We are expecting a big step forward from her and Monday is the pick for this one.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

ISABELLA GILES won the Prestige Stakes last time out, collecting her Goodwood win on soft ground. However, the conditions disrupted a lot of the field in that one and she took her chance. So it will be interesting to see what she has up her sleeve. It has been three wins from four runs.

The Other name in this race full of claims is SANTOSHA. She can be excused for an off day at York on her last run. A move back to the 7f trip is likely to play to her strengths. Before that excusable York run, she had taken third place in a Group 2 here at Newmarket before winning at Group 3 at Ascot.

The narrow market leader for this competitive race is KAMEKO at 12/5 in Newmarket racing odds* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020). There has been consistent form from the Andrew Balding-trained colt.

As a juvenile, he scored a Group 1 Futurity victory and then on his first go as a three-year-old, delivered the 2000 Guineas over course and distance. So what about that recent form, not getting another win since? Excuses can be seen in those fixtures and a return to 1m is going to be right in his wheelhouse.

Frankie Dettori is taking the ride for BENBATL which is very interesting. Benbatl is a course and distance winner as well and the six year old appears to be right in top form at the moment.

He won last year’s renewal of this race after having been away for 11 months. He has been jet-setting this season, claiming back to back wins in the Middle East followed by a third-place before heading to Newmarket.

TOP RANK is well situated here and delivered a career-best effort in getting a victory at Haydock three weeks ago. That was a Group 3 victory in the Superior Mile that he got and it was a pretty warm contest as well.

So it will be interesting to see if he can go even further and push on. He is worth keeping on the shortlist.

The race favourite for this big Stakes race of the day from Newmarket on Friday is LOXLEY at 7/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:22 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020). He posted a win in the Dubai City of Gold six months ago at Meydan.

That was the last time that he was seen, but he did participate in last year’s renewal of this race and was only just edged out. He will be in cheek pieces and looks to be an obvious threat from the head of the market in this small field.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LAAFY will bring plenty of appeal to the table for this trip. He has been getting better and better throughout the course of the season. He took another very good progressive step last time out when he got a handicap score at Ascot three weeks ago. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding is coming up in grade but has a lot more to give.

WALTON STREET will be the other name for the short list for this Listed fixture in Newmarket racing odds. He had a nice recent workout, posting a second-place finish in a Lingfield conditions race. That was only a couple of weeks ago so it will be nice for punters to have seen him sharp. He may have a chance in this one coming in sharper and fresher than most.
