Will the Dettori/Terebellum partnership come up trumps?

Frankie Dettori will be in the saddle for the favourite Terebellum in this Fillies Stakes. She has had four starts under her belt and there does look to be plenty more to come from the 4 year old.

Dettori was in the saddle when she broke her maiden at the first attempt. Her second win came in a strong performance at the Shadwell Prix De La Nonette in August, before taking 5th of 12 in the Group 1 Prix De L’Opera Longines.

So on the back of all that the John Gosdon-trained Terrebellum has to warrant some big claims here. She most certainly wouldn’t be winning out of turn in this one from 11/8* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 21:14 GMT on Friday, June 5th 2020).

TEREBELLUM

Can Magic Lily take on the favourite?

The impressive MAGIC LILY will be conceding 3lbs to Terebellum in this contest. Is that too much to overcome? The 5 year old Mare had a really good time of things in a swing at Meydan.

She won two of her three runs there at Group 2 and then wasn’t shown up at all on a step up. She took second in the Jebel Hatta Group 1 effort.

Definitely a big threat and plays her part in making up a very select shortlist. There is every reason to suggest that she is going to be in the picture.

Does Queen Power have enough?

Irish runner QUEEN POWER, trained by Sir Michael Stoute has scored in two of her five racetrack appearances. The last effort that she had was at Windsor towards the end of August and was 4th of 5th in that Group 3 contest.

She actually broke her maiden at Newmarket in October 2018, while her second career score happened last Summer as she won a Fillies Trial Stakes at Newbury.

Queen Power has to find a little more, but will have some place claims in this field at 11/4* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 21:14 GMT on Friday, June 5th 2020).

The Rest Of The Runners

It is a little tough to see any of the other declared runners getting the win in this one. However, we will scan the field and see what is there. SWEET PROMISE won a couple of novice efforts and did take a solid third in a Listed Longchamp effort in September last year. She disappointed massively over course and distance in October however.

EVA MARIA has picked up a win in three of her five efforts so far. One of those was a handicap effort over course and distance in October. She does look as if he has plenty to come and looks the best of the outsiders to back for a place effort. Eva Maria is a 22/1 quote outright* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 21:14 GMT on Friday, June 5th 2020).

Then there is BUBBLE AND SQUEAK who returns for the first time since December where she was beaten by a neck at Wolverhampton. She’s a useful runner but looks to be a little out of her depth in terms of looking anywhere near a win. ARDIENTE makes up the list and she is going for a new stable. With nothing more than novice wins at shorter distances behind her, she’s out of her depth.

Predictions & Tips

The general consensus in this one is that it is a battle between three. TEREBELLUM has been lightly raced and ticks all of the boxes for us in this one. She is such a good performer and not likely anywhere near her ceiling yet.

In all fairness MAGIC LILY and QUEEN POWER look the strongest options to complete the top three. But worth a nod as an each way option is definitely EVA MARIA who looks a good sort and may be able to step it up in an attempt at better value.
