Bear Force One lines up as favourite

The 5/2 favourite BEAR FORCE ONE should have some big claims in this contest* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:33 GMT on Wednesday, June 3rd 2020). He took back to back wins at Kempton and Newbury early last season and signed off with a second-place finish in a field of 13 at Kempton in November.

So it is a 198-day break that he returns from, but the now 4-year-old should be even better and sharper. He may be tough to top when it comes to pace over this sprint. Bear Force One has scored in one of three previous runs on the turf.

Arbalet could be revitalised on return

ARBALET from 7/2 brings some interesting claims as he comes back from a couple of changes* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:33 GMT on Wednesday, June 3rd 2020). He has switched yards and he is also back after his gelding operation.

The 5-year-old was really struggling to put things together in some much richer company than what he will be facing in this one. So the drop-down in class here should put him in the picture if the recent chances do work in his favour.

Deep Intrigue

Next, we will take a look at a very good performer who may be able to take this. 4-year-old colt DEEP INTRIGUE has enough to get a win on the board in this one even though he is a big 14/1 e/w shot* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:33 GMT on Wednesday, June 3rd 2020).

At this current mark at Newmarket in July last year he put in a really good run to take second place. So that does give him some claims in this one.

Can Cliffs Of Capri follow up on Meydan success?

Just back in February CLIFFS OF CAPRI but in a win at Meydan and anything close to running at that form again will get him in the frame. The six-year-old has scored 3 wins in 15 efforts on the turf.

That Meydan success in a field of 13 does mean that he warrants some respect here, although it came totally out of the blue with the form that he had produced prior and he won that contest by outrunning his 40/1 odds.

Can the unpredictable Rathbone settle to contend?

RATHBONE is back from almost three months away from the track. He took a second place at Newcastle in mid-February, beaten only by a neck in a Class 2 handicap effort. That was some of the fastest form produced by him.

He struggled over a longer distance out at Wolverhampton then, but this trip back down at 7f should suit. Rathbone won a couple on the turf in April and May last year. He has something to find but may have place claims from 10/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:33 GMT on Wednesday, June 3rd 2020).

Predictions & Tips

This is a good looking race and it is hard to see past BEAR FORCE ONE for the success. He was coming along so very well as a 3-year-old and can only imagine the extra strength that he is going to have on his return.

He is a favourite worth backing from Newmarket on Thursday we feel. There are some interesting contenders behind him in the scrap for places.

DEEP INTRIGUE is the pick of those. That will be on the back of his last performance at the course last summer where he looked at his very best. ARBALET would, however, be the most likely to take out the favourite.
