Chelsea manager betting is hotting up after Chelsea blew their final chance of silverware in the Champions League. Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti looks to have bought himself some time, as he team rallied from a 1-0 deficit at West Brom, to take the three points with a 3-0 win. The Blues looked to have shaken off their Champions League woes, as they exited in a limp fashion against Manchester United, without really ever raising their game and looking competitive. The poor form of £50 million striker Fernando Torres has not helped them in any way shape or form, and Ancelotti was criticised for starting the Spaniard in the second leg against United, instead of Didier Drogba. Torres was resigned to the bench for Chelsea’s trip to West Brom, and almost broke his goal scoring duck for his new club when he came on with ten minutes to go, only a debatable off side call denying him. That victory leaves Chelsea just six games on the season now, and it is a season which end trophy-less for them. It has been quite a harsh fall for Ancelotti, who won a manager of the month award at the start of the new season, and was riding high on the success of doing the domestic double last season. It’s all come unravelled a bit, with Chelsea going through a terrible, and uncharacteristic slump either side of the turn of the new year, and their players simply not performing. Fingers have been pointed at Chelsea’s aging side, with the likes of Drogba, John Terry and Frank Lampard not getting any younger, and with the Champions League evading them yet again, owner Roman Abramovich may just have had enough. The speculation about Ancelotti’s future is mounting, and the Chelsea manager betting list is growing, with the Italian himself saying that he would no problem if he were to fired, because he hasn’t won anything this year. Ancelotti’s record in management is still very impressive, but with the Chelsea strikers not clicking, and a £50 million striker not scoring, Chelsea could see sweeping changes in the summer, not only of players like Drogba potentially leaving, but of course, Ancelotti himself.

So, on to the fun rumours of who the next Chelsea boss may possibly be, and here we will take a look at Next Chelsea manager odds. There are two wild card entrants which have been reported. John Terry has stated that he would love to become Chelsea manager, and a selection would not get any more popular than that. Having never managed before would probably count him out, and it is something more likely he would do when he retires than right now. The other is that Abramovich would take over things himself. He is reportedly getting more and more hands on at the club. Would he take the reins fully of his toy? No. Seriously? Avram Grant is speculated to be heading back to the bridge to become director of football in the summer, so who would be the ideal man to replace Ancelotti, should the Italian get the boot? Let’s weigh up the next Chelsea manager odds for the list of main candidates.

Guus Hiddink: 7/2 at Bet365

Outright favourite because he is so highly regarded, and did so well fitting in when he took over Chelsea on an interim basis in 2009. Has bags of international managerial experience, currently at the helm of Turkey. After winning the FA Cup for Chelsea in his short stint, you could tell the players really respected the man. Really is the front runner, but has not been a man to walk away from jobs. The likes of Chelsea captain John Terry wanted him to stay on, but he held up his agreement with his job with the Russian national side instead. Good value for the next Chelsea manager betting, but has refused the job before.

Jose Mourinho: 7/2 at Bet365

The Special One has hinted that he would love another crack at the Premier League. The Real Madrid boss is a proven winner and saw Chelsea through their most successful period. There is no doubt that Chelsea fans would want to see him back at the club. He made Chelsea the power that they were (up until this season) and would dearly love to have him back to recreate his successes. Don’t see him re-treading old ground though, and with the alleged bitterness surrounding his departure with Abramovic, probably won’t be back at the Bridge.

Marco Van Basten: 11/1 at Victor Chandler

Interesting name which keeps cropping up. Really doesn’t seem to be a name which jumps off the page at you. Has been out of work since 2009, and has an agreement that will see him manager of Sporting CP in 2011 (given that Bruno de Carvalho wins presidency elections at the club). Unlikely. Chelsea need a proven manager for their obsession with the Champions League, Van Basten does not fit the bill for your next Chelsea manager betting odds.

Pep Guardiola: 11/1 at Victor Chandler

Seriously? Not going to leave Barcelona to try and revive a slumping Chelsea squad.

Andre Villas Boas: 10/1 at Bet365

Very interesting name to be floating around. The Portugeuse manager of Porto is just 33 years old and just finding his way in the world of club management. He 30 games of boss of Academica in Portugal before moving to Port. He won the league for them at the first attempt and in convincing fashion. Exciting, full of promise and potential. Could bring something different to Chelsea, a breath of fresh air at the club. Was Jose Mourinho’s assistant at Chelsea and at Inter Milan, so has learned from the best. Best outside shot for your Chelsea manager betting.

Didier Deschamps: 10/1 at Bet365

Has done a wonderful job at Marseille which requires respect. The former Chelsea man would be welcome back at the Bridge, and showed his credentials when his Marseille side made Man Utd work so hard in the Champions League. Would be a popular, but unlikely move.

Frank Rijkaard: 10/1 at Bet365

Would certainly bring a bit of attacking flair to Chelsea, and they need to get something more out of their attack. Wouldn’t have any trouble managing big star names following his stint at Barcelona. Was hired at Galatassary but didn’t last long there.

Louis van Gaal: 16/1 at Bet365

Our tip in the next Chelsea manager betting markets. He has shown before that he simply works with what is in front of him, and builds formations around players, and doesn’t try and squeeze players into formations. Recently fired from Bayern Munich, where he gained so much respect for taking them to the Champions League final last year, and for their achievements in the Bundesliga. Would be a perfect fit, translating the best of the powerful and pacy German game into the English Premier League. Fell out with Bayern for sticking to his guns about a deal for keeper Manuel Neuer.

Marcelo Lippi: 18/1 at Bet365

Another Italian? Out of a job and could be ready to step in. Proven International manager, and builds unity in teams. Lippi has never worked outside of Italy interestingly. Has the experience of building good teams, but it wouldn’t be a dynamic move by Chelsea.

Rafael Benitez: 20/1 at Bet365

Chelsea fans will be hoping for one word when they hear this name being bandied around. That is “No.” Dragged Liverpool down with poor squad transfer options (although got the best out of Torres), but having only won less than half of 25 matches in charge of Inter Milan, he didn’t last long there. Would not be a popular choice.
