Who becomes next Terriers boss?

David Wagner parted company with club Huddersfield on mutual terms on Monday. It seems in hindsight get that the club had no intention of sacking him at all, despite the lowly position of the Terriers. But the German apparently told the club that he needs to step away from the stresses of the job.

It has been a season of struggles from Huddersfield who are eight points away some safety at the foot of the Premier League table. They collected a point on the weekend out at Cardiff but had a penalty decision in their favour overturned after a linesman interjected. That may well have denied the Terriers a huge three points in their survival bid.

Wagner managed to keep the Terriers in the second tier when he was brought in back in November 2015. Then in 2017, he took them to the top flight after earning promotion through the playoff Final over Reading. Against the odds, they stayed up last season but have now found the second-season in the top flight a little too tough to handle. The Terriers are 1/16 odds-on favourites to get relegated this season* (betting odds taken from BetVictor on January 14th, 2019 at 7:30 pm)

It does raise a really tough question of now who will replace him and Big Sam Allardyce is an early 3/1 market leader with BetVictor. Wager is a charismatic man and he was well loved by the club and their fans. He really gave the club an identity over the last few seasons so he is a big loss for them.

However, who comes in knows that relegation is a strong probability and that it will be probably be second tier action next term. Coach Mark Hudson takes over as caretaker manager. They face Manchester City in the Premier League on the weekend.
