Sean Dyche is the bookmakers’ early favourite to be named Next Permanent Everton Manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman but the Burnley manager seems non-plussed by all the fuss.

Dyche also seemed lukewarm to suggestions last week that he was in the running to replace Craig Shakespeare at Leicester and, with so much confusion surrounding both markets at present, there seems little value in best odds of around 9/4 (only 6/4 in a place), that Turf Moor will be swapped for Goodison Park. Though, of course, Dyche would be reunited with a familiar face on Merseyside – Burnley sold England defender Michael Keane to the Toffees in the summer.

While Koeman’s sacking can hardly be deemed a surprise, it probably caught the Dutchman off guard. Koeman did well at Southampton and has coached at some of Europe’s top clubs. Very ambitious, he vowed to turn Everton into a major force and spent more than £150million in the summer after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. But they’ve had a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign and are also on the verge of an early exit from the Europa League.

Next Everton Manager Possible Contenders

Sean Dyche – Could be tempted by a bigger budget than at Burnley but underdog managerial style may not be suited by a switch to a traditionally bigger club.
Ryan Giggs – Putting his name forward for most Premier League managerial jobs nowadays. Clearly keen to step up to a top job but lacks all-round experience and has never been involved in a relegation battle.
David Moyes – The prodigal son would be popular among the Goodision faithful but is reportedly keen on the Scotland job and has been a disaster in stints at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland since leaving Everton first time.
Sam Allardyce – Is the go-to candidate when ever a Premier League jobs comes up but doesn’t seem in love with the game at the moment.
David Unsworth – The U23 coach is in temporary charge and could be some value at 5/1 with Betvictor to get the post on a full-time basis. He fulfilled the role on a short-term basis when Roberto Martinez left and is popular with both supporters and board. However, he may need to convince chief investor Farhad Moshiri, who is likely to want a bigger name.
Marco Silva – Doing well at Watford having made a bold effort to keep Hull up last season but would need convincing to switch to a struggling side.
