Next PM Politics Betting – Starmer 7/4 with Betfred as star continues to rise

Starmer's approval rating overtakes Johnson's

Hindsight is, of course, a wonderful thing and humans will continue to make mistakes while ever there is life on Earth.

Unfortunately, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that Boris Johnson and his government did not cover themselves with glory at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and it appears than the British public are blaming the PM for most of the ensuing crisis.

Are the PM’s character flaws being exposed

Johnson is a populist politician and has never been big on substance to back up his bluster. It worked fine when facing someone like Jeremy Corbyn across the Dispatch Box in the House of Commons but he is finding himself on the back foot faced by Sir Keir Starmer.

Starmer has only been Labour leader for a few short weeks but his approval rating has already overtaken Johnson’s and that will have the alarm bells ringing in the back rooms of 10 Downing Street.

As a QC and former head of the Crown Prosecution Service, it’s in Starmer’s DNA that he fully researches all of his subject matter. In that, he’s the polar opposite of the PM who usually says the first thing that comes into his head and is renowned for his lack of preparation.

Labour leader attracting significant support

At present, Starmer is forensically dissecting the government’s response to Covid-19 and seems intent on bringing ministers to account. It has seen a surge in support for the fledgling Labour leader to be the Next PM and he is now only a best 7/4 with Betfred.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak, a relative rookie himself, is one of the few on the government benches to have avoided serious criticism so far and is 4/1 with Betfred with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab out to a best 12/1 to succeed Johnson. Michael Gove is 14/1 with 888sport among others with the beleaguered Matt Hancock at 25/1.
