While the new season of Premier League football betting is with us, a full season betting preview would not be complete without a look at the Next Manager To Leave Post betting market. This is usually a topsy-turvy market because things change so quickly in football. The managers in charge of the top clubs have a heavy weight of expectation to perform, while the managers of clubs which are expected to be staring down the barrel of relegation will have to tap into all their resources and tactical prowess (and possible the transfer market) to try and keep themselves clear of the drop.

So who is most in line to either get the boot or walk away from their Premier League managerial position next season? Well, leading the pack is West Ham’s Sam Allardyce, which may be a surprise to some. Allardyce did a fantastic job of getting the Hammers back their Premier League status at the first attempt, but he is a man under pressure to get them to perform back in the top flight. The biggest expectation out of the three newly promoted clubs (West Ham, Reading and Southampton) will be on the Hammers. Sam Allardyce is trading at a price of 6/1 with online bookmaker Bet Victor to be the first man out of a job. The extra expectation on Allardyce comes because the Hammers should have more experience and better resources to handle life back in the Premier league than most newly promoted clubs generally do. Allardyce himself has great experience of plying his trade in England’s top flight.

Southampton’s Nigel Adkins is also going to be a man under pressure and the Saints boss is trading at a price of 8/1 in the Next Manager To Leave Post betting market. But of the three newly promoted teams, Southampton may be at the biggest disadvantage because of funds and resources. Southampton pipped West Ham to the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship last season, but the Hammers are expected to have a much easier time of things than the Saints next season. Also trading at the same mark of 8/1 is new West Brom manager Steve Clarke.

Clarke took over at the Hawthorns in a surprise move following Roy Hodgson’s departure to manage the English national side. With the Baggies moving in the right direction last season, playing some attractive football, it was expected that a manager of good experience would have taken over. However the Baggies instead selected the inexperienced Steve Clarke, who has vast experience of being an assistant manager in the Premier league, but not having taken the reins of the club by himself. While he has assisted at Chelsea and Liverpool, he did take a brief stint as caretaker manager of Newcastle United back in 1999. But that is as far as his managerial experience goes. The former Chelsea player could be under pressure next season because of his experience.

Mark Hughes managed to pull QPR from relegation last season in the Premier league getting them safe by one point. But, with many people predicting that QPR will be struggling again this season, the natural fall-back of that, is that the boss will take the failure on his shoulders. Bookies are a little split over the future of Hughes at QPR with some having him in as short as 10/1 but there is value in 12/1 at online bookmaker Bet Victor.

New Swansea boss Michael Laudrup, the former Denmark star, could have a lot on his hands at the Liberty Stadium. Laudrup comes in to replace Brendan Rodgers who left his role with the Welsh club for a move to Anfield. Laudrup in contrast to West Brom’s Steve Clarke has had a good decade of management. He was the assistant manager of Denmark in the early 2000’s and went on to club levels with Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca before ending up with Swansea. The Swans impressed a lot last season with a fluid passing and patient style of football, so now Laudrup will have to take that on to the next level and make them into a more potent force in the Premier league. Again however, will a lack of resources ultimately hurt Swansea, as they have already lost a couple of vital pieces from last season’s success, with Joe Allen moving to Liverpool and Gylfi Sigurdsson joining Spurs.

Of the managers at the top clubs, it is Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo who looks most under threat. The Chelsea manager is trading at a price of 12/1 with online bookmaker Bet Victor. Does Di Matteo have what it takes to transform Chelsea into the attacking stylish side that Roman Abramovich wants? It has not gone particularly well through pre-season with the Blues losing three games in a row ahead of their Community Shield meeting with Manchester City. The Blues were downed there 3-2 by the Premier League champions. Di Matteo has to piece together the new signings and take Chelsea into their new youthful era. Despite winning the Champions League and the FA Cup last season, Di Matteo is under a tremendous amount of pressure to live up to the battling defensive efforts of last season which brought success.
