Norway v Denmark Betting Preview – Women’s Euro 2017 24th July

This is a great group because things are so tight and all four could get through. However, after losing their opening two matches, the 2013 Euro runners-up Norway are probably going to be going home. The only way they get through is if they win by a three goal margin and Belgium lose their game against the Netherlands. As for Denmark in this one, they will have to pretty much just match whatever Belgium manage against the Dutch to hold a qualification spot down.

Norway v Denmark Betting Tips

Norway have left themselves in a bit of a mess after a poor group stage campaign at the Women’s Euros. After suffering back to back defeats in the group, they now need something of a miracle to happen in the final round of matches to reach the quarter finals. Basically, Norway would have to win this game by a three goal margin at least and then they would also need Belgium to lose. It’s hard to see that happening with the Norwegians, who finished runners up four years ago at the Euros, not having netted in the group yet. After opening with a 1-0 defeat against the hosts the Netherlands, Norway were then stunned in a 2-0 defeat against debutantes Belgium. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 is a price of 4/5 and decent value.

So much better was expected of Norway, but there is a slim chance, as unlikely as it is for them. If they go out, this will be their first group stage exit since 1997. Actually, just to show how reliable they usually are, only twice have they failed to get out of the group in a major tournament, Euro 97 and the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. There have been twelve competitive meetings between Norway and Denmark and the head to head stands at four wins each and four draws. Their most recent coming together was in the 2015 Algarve Cup which Norway won 5-2. In the two previous group stage matches at the European Championships, Norway won 5-0 in 1997 but Denmark took a 1-0 win four years later.

So they have scored pretty decently against Denmark (85-54 overall from their previous 43 meetings). In the bet356 correct score market, the 1-1 draw in this one is trading at 5/1 and is going to have some appeal. Denmark have a bunch of qualification connotations to try and figure out for this one. Their simplest things is just to go out and win as well as they can and then hope that Belgium fails against the Netherlands. The Danes only get through to the next round if they win in this and Belgium fail to beat the Netherlands in the other game OR of the Belgians win by a margin of two goals or more, OR if the Belgians win 1-0 and the Danes win by a scoreline other than 1-0. After opening with a 1-0 win over Belgium, the Danes slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the Netherlands. World superstar Ada Hegerberg is at 9/5 in the anytime goalscorer market while for the Danes, the prolific Pernille Harder is a solid 7/4 punt.

Norway v Denmark Predictions

Draw: It is going to be so hard to split these. Denmark know that they could need to win this get through while Norway will have to produce something special, which they don’t look as if they have in them. Look for a low scoring game and a draw seems the most likely outcome.
