Norway News and Form

It was a good Nations League campaign that Norway put together. They managed to top out their group after opening with four straight wins. They produced a win in each of their three home fixtures without giving up a goal. That was against Bulgaria, Cyprus and Slovenia so there are tougher challenges to come. Like this. Norway managed to get things back level out in Spain from the penalty spot at 1-1 but then gave away a spot-kick themselves to hand Spain the victory.

That snapped a four-match undefeated streak that Norway were on. But still, it is only one of two defeats that they have suffered since March last year. Norway won all five of their home games within that sequence. During those five games as well, they only conceded one goal. They have currently banked a clean sheet in five of their last eight, home and away.

Sweden News and Form

The Swedes picked up a 2-1 victory over Romania on Saturday, so that’s three straight victories for them (not counting a couple of exhibitions that they played in Doha at the start of the year). So that has seen them get things together a little bit better. Sweden had failed to win any of five prior to that. On their Nations League travels Sweden took a victory in Turkey and a draw in Russia, not conceding in either of those.

Back during World Cup 2018 qualification, Sweden were strong, finishing second in their group behind France and eliminating the Netherlands. Sweden have won only two of their last eight away games in a W2 D2 L4 sequence. Sweden have actually scored in only one of their last six away fixtures, failing to score in three of their last four on the road.

Norway v Sweden Predictions

Draw: The draw in the match outright appeals in this one. Each of the last three meetings in Norway between the two nations have ended in a draw. Sweden would probably be happy enough with it and Norway won’t want to get to two defeats from two at the start of the campaign. Draw.
