Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Preview – Championship 9th December 5.30pm

Neither of these are having as strong of a season as they would have expected to have had. Norwich needs to rapidly arrest a substantial winless streak of form in the second tier but they have been struggling for firepower in front of goal. Sheffield Wednesday turn up with some good unbeaten form behind them, but they have drawn each to their last four league outings now, so will they be able to produce a winner?

Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tips

Norwich haven’t been having a fun time of things lately. Around the start of September, they started kicking into high gear but then come mid-October the wheels had really come off again. They have only produced a D2 L5 record in their last seven Championship fixtures and are struggling to snap this winless streak. They are unbeaten in their last two at home, having drawn back to back games against Barnsley and Preston but they are winless in seven on home soil (D5 L2). A 1-1 correct score option at William Hill is at 11/2 odds for the game. Norwich have managed just the two home victories this term in a W2 D5 L3 record and have only managed to put eight league goals on the board. They have not been too bad at the back at Carrow Road, only 20% of their home games have gone over 2.5 goals. 50% of their games at Carrow Road have produced exactly two goals and three of their five draws on home soil have been by a 1-1 scoreline.

Nelson Oliveira is the top scorer this season for them with five goals and three of those have been at Carrow Road. No other Norwich player has managed more than one at home. Whichever way you look at this, it is probably going to be ending up as a low scoring fixture and both teams not to score is a decent enough poke at 6/5. Each of the last four between these two clubs at Carrow Road have gone under 2.5 goals, three of them going under 1.5 goals. Sheffield Wednesday took four points from Norwich in last season’s league meeting and the Owls have lost only one of their previous twelve Championship fixtures against the Canaries (W9 D2). At the moment Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in their last seven Championship games, but they are on a four match drawing streak of current form. The outright draw in this fixture really has to be appealing.

Sheffield Wednesday have drawn their last two away games as well, holding out at Ipswich and Reading and are unbeaten in their last three on the road. Overall though they have gone W2 D4 L4 on their travels this season but have just the one win in their last eight, which to their credit did come recently at Aston Villa. Much like Norwich, they haven’t been particularly potent in front of goal, but are seven goals better off than their opponents are. Wednesday have been trailing at half time in just two of their ten road games and a half time draw at William Hill is at odds of 6/5. 82% of the goals that Sheffield Wednesday have conceded away from home this season have come in the second half of matches. They have only scored the eight away goals though, failing to score in four of those away games.

Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday Predictions

The visiting Owls could be some decent value to collect a win in this road game. They have at least been scoring the kind of goal that should be enough to take down the Canaries. This is probably going to be a tight game, but the extra quality that the Owls have up top can sneak this.
