Canaries to just edge the Baggies in home opener

Championship Betting

Norwich v West Brom Betting Tips – Championship, 11th August 3.00pm

The Canaries played out a 2-2 draw at St Andrew’s against Birmingham on the weekend, showing a bit of character to come back from behind twice in the fixture. There should be a great atmosphere at Carrow Road for this home opener this weekend. West Brom had an extra fixture to squeeze in during the week, but now two games into the new Championship season they are still looking for their first win.

Norwich News and Form

The Canaries were made to work hard out at Birmingham last weekend to collect their point from a 2-2 draw. They twice fought back in that game to avoid defeat with Onel Hernandez getting both goals for the Canaries, including the 90th-minute equaliser. The Canaries posted a W8 D8 L7 record last season in the Championship at Carrow Road which was nothing more than average really. There were a lot of inconsistencies with them last season which boss Daniel Farke will be hoping doesn’t rear its head this term.

They are still getting players back to full fitness so he is likely to make a handful of changes from the lineup of last weekend and there could be a debut for defender Felix Passlack to strengthen the back line. Basically, this is still so early in the season and things are going to need to settle down over time. But we see this ending up as being a low scoring game. For our Norwich v West Brom betting tips we are going under 2.5 goals at bet365 for 7/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on March 20th, 2018 at 00:22 p.m.). They may be a little bit fresher as West Brom had to get in an extra game in midweek.

West Brom News and Form

Things haven’t gone peachy for West Brom back in the Championship. They suffered a shock home defeat against Bolton on the opening weekend of the new season. They then had to make a trip to Notts Forest in midweek in a rescheduled fixture and had to battle their way back to earn a point from that in a 1-1 draw. They salvage the point three minutes from time. But there is still big pressure on them early on in trying to get their first win of the season on the board.

It’s not what boss Darren Moore would have expected from the start of the new term. They don’t have Nacer Chadli and with Salomon Rondon having gone off to Newcastle, they like most clubs, are still working their way to full fitness and settling down. Dwight Gayle made his debut against Forest in midweek, coming on in the second half and he is the 6/4 anytime goalscorer favourite* (Betting Odds were taken on March 20th, 2018 at 00:22 p.m.) because he’ll probably get a start here. They could be feeling the heat at Carrow Road.

Norwich v West Brom Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between Norwich and West Brom since the 2015/16 Premier League season. The two traded away wins on that occasion and both of them were 1-0 away successes as well. Both teams have scored in none of the last six meetings in all competitions and Norwich are W2 L2 in their last four home games against the Baggies in all competitions. Each of the last three league meetings have ended in a 1-0 away win.

Norwich v West Brom Betting Odds*

Norwich 8/5
West Brom 17/10
Draw 9/4

Norwich v West Brom Predictions

Norwich to win: This hasn’t been a great start from the Baggies at all and this is no easy away game for them. Norwich will have plenty of positive support behind them of course at Carrow Road and we fancy the Canaries to have the edge. Home win.
