Norwich v Wolves Betting Preview – Championship 31st October 7.45pm

An interesting set up in this midweek Championship clash, only because both of these lost their respective matches on the weekend. Wolves took a tumble at QPR which actually cost them the top spot in the division as they ceded it to Sheffield United. Norwich had their only unbeaten streak of league form snapped as Derby pulled off a surprise against them at Carrow Road. Who will bounce back immediately to winning ways in this Tuesday night showdown in the second tier?

Norwich v Wolves Betting Tips

The Canaries have to pick themselves up after suffering a surprise home defeat against Debt on the weekend. They were on a great unbeaten streak of eight league games before that slip up (W5 D3). So that was an upset for them but still, they look a pretty solid defensive side. They were all over the place at the back in the early stages of the season but they have collected six clean sheets in their last nine games now. They are a big price of 15/4 at bet365 to win to nil in this one and that is because their defence will likely be pushed hard by the free-flowing football that Wolves will bring to the table. Still, only 29% of Norwich’s home games this season have gone over 2.5 goals so this is unlikely going to be a game full of goals. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 is a good 10/11 option for the game. Norwich don’t pack a great deal of punch going forward and they are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table with just the 14 goals in 14 league games.

Their top scorer in the Championship this season is Nelson Oliveira with five goals behind him and he is a price of 8/5 to net in this one. On home soil in the Championship this season the Canaries have posted a W2 D3 L2 record and they have only been ahead at half time in one of those games. Three of their last four home games in the second tier have ended in a draw and two of those draws were by a 1-1 scoreline. A 1-1 correct score at bet365 for this fixture is a 5/1 quote while the 0-0 is a 9/1 poke. Last season in the Championship, Norwich had the upper hand over Wolves, winning both meetings against them and they are actually on a three match winning streak against them in the Championship. Norwich have lost just one of their last eight games against Wolves in league competition, winning five of those, so are pretty strong in the recent head to head between the two clubs.

Wolves had a stumble on the weekend as well, because they suffered a road defeat out at QPR. That snapped a good three match winning streak that they were on in the division and it also amounted to their second defeat in their last three away games now and that is part of an overall W4 D1 L2 record that they have picked up on their travels in the league this season. They do like to get the ball down and play some flowing attacking stuff and have proven their quality in front of goal already this season. Both teams to score at bet365 returns a price of 4/6. Their top scorer is Leo Bonatini with eight goals for the league season and he is a 7/4 anytime goalscorer option with Diogo Jota, who has seven league goals, at 15/8. They will give the Norwich defence some work to do. Wolves have averaged around 1.7 goals per game on the road this season and home and away they have yet to concede in the opening fifteen minutes of a league match.

Wolves 17/10, Norwich 9/5, Draw 12/5

Norwich v Wolves Predictions

Draw: A strong Norwich defence taking on a strong Wolves attack. This just may all be balanced out and there is value in looking at the draw on this one. Norwich haven’t got home winning form to warrant backing at the moment and Wolves have had road slip ups. Settle on the draw at Carrow Road.
