Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 3rd August 17.30pm

Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest welcome Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion to the City Ground for an EFL Championship fixture on Saturday evening. This is one of the standout games of the opening weekend. West Brom should have a good season under Bilic, with some bookies backing them for a top two finish. However, this will be a tough match at the City Ground. Who will come out on top between the Reds and the Baggies?

Nottingham Forest News and Form – Will Lamouchi make his mark?

After failing to reach the play-offs last season, Martin O’Neill was sacked in the summer. 47-year-old Sabri Lamouchi was brought in as his replacement. Lamouchi has previously managed Ivory Coast, El Jaish and Rennes, with this being his first job in England.

Nottingham Forest were being tipped for success this time a year ago, but Aitor Karanka left his post as Reds boss in January with the club sitting in seventh, just four points behind the play-off places. O’Neill was brought in to get the club into the top six, but Forest missed out by seven points in the end.

It’s been a busy summer for the club in terms of incomings and outgoings. The likes of Albert Adomah, Sammy Ameobi and Yuri Ribeiro have moved to the City Ground, with Stephen Henderson, Ben Osborn, Hillal Soudani and Jamie Ward leaving.

Forest were really strong at the City Ground last season, picking up an impressive 43 home points – only five teams claimed more. However, things were tough away from home, with the Reds beating just Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers.

Lamouchi is somewhat of an unknown entity in English football, so it’s difficult to predict what type of season Forest are set to have. However, like many clubs, the Reds will be aiming for the play-offs.

West Bromwich Albion News and Form – Bilic to get the Baggies back to the big time?

After losing in the play-off semi-final last term, the club acted swiftly to bring in former West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic. The Croatian had a decent time in east London, but he failed at Al-Ittihad in his last job. Still, Bilic is a very accomplished manager and he could do well at The Hawthorns.

West Brom had a strong season in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League. Albion finished in fourth place, eventually losing out in the play-off semi-finals to Midlands rivals Aston Villa. In the regular season, West Brom won 23 times and claimed 80 points.

Albion had one of the best away records in the division last year, going on to secure an impressive 11 wins on the road. Only Norwich City (45), Sheffield United (40) and Bristol City (38) picked up more than West Brom’s 37 away points. At home, the Baggies accrued 43 points.

Albion have brought in Semi Ajayi, Darnell Furlong, Filip Krovinovic and Romaine Sawyers in the summer. They also signed Kenneth Zohore from Championship rivals Cardiff City. The familiar faces of Gareth Barry, Craig Dawson, James Morrison, Boaz Myhill and Jay Rodriguez have moved on.

This is an extremely tough league this season, but West Brom will fancy their chances of gaining automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion Predictions

Draw: Out of the opening Championship fixtures, this is one of the tougher matches to predict. Both managers would love to get off to a winning start, but I fancy the pair to play out an entertaining draw on Saturday. Therefore, check out the tasty odds of 10/3 for the draw and both teams to score. I’m also backing the hosts to open the scoring at 4/5.
