Olympiakos News and Form – Can the Greeks beat Tottenham?

Olympiakos have seen plenty of European action already this season having started in the second qualifying round. They moved past Viktoria Plzen there before beating Krasnodar in the playoff round. It has been only one goal conceded by Olympiakos in their four Champions League fixtures this season. Their defence is going to have to be on point against Spurs, who were last season’s runners up. The Greek team have moved on to a nine-match unbeaten European home streak now (W7 D2).

This is their first appearance back in the group stage since the 2017/18 season when they finished bottom taking only one point. It was a tough group for them though as they were against Barcelona, Juventus and Sporting. It was a Europa League campaign for them last season when they came from the second qualifying round and made it to the round of 32. The home form of Olympiakos against English sides has to be noted as they have won five of their last six home fixtures against English teams including a 3-1 win over Burnley in last season’s Europa League.

Tottenham News and Form – Will Spurs win on the road?

Tottenham had a tough start to last season’s Champions League. They took just one point from their first three group stage games. But they managed to squeeze through thanks to a draw at Barcelona on matchday six. Then they stepped things up a gear or two as they moved past Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax en route to the final. They lost that final with a disappointing performance, going down 2-0 against fellow Premier League side Liverpool.

In total Spurs collected a W6 D2 L5 record in last season’s Champions League. At the back end of the tournament, Tottenham lost three of their last four games. In group stage away games, Spurs have taken a win in just three of their last twelve and they have collected one win in their last five. Tottenham’s dramatic late victory out at Ajax in the second leg of last season’s semi-final was only their sixth win in their last 21 European away games (D7 L8). Tottenham hold a record of W1 D2 L1 in Greece.
