The first series of the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 will get up and running next week and Paddy Power have launched off some great specials for the new series of the competition. The move from the BBC over to Channel 4 for the show was pretty controversial and C4 have been accused of milking the rights by fitting in some big commercial breaks through the show.
It may not go down with avid followers of the show. Following the move, it means that while Paul Hollywood returns to the big tent, Mary Berry and Mel and Sue are both out of the frame. But Paddy Power have offered a price of 5/1 on judge Mary Berry making a shock return to the show after this series, while you can get an early price of 12/1 for Mel and Sue to get back.
Channel 4 have to find a way to impress the loyal viewers of the Great British Bake Off but there is a massive price of 10/1 on this season to go out a trump the viewing figures of the last one because everyone is expecting the viewing figures to be down. Because the transition hasn’t exactly gone down great, there is a 50/1 price at Paddy Power that the show will go back to the BBC.
Asked about a stunning return for Mary Berry spokesman Paddy Power said: “The oven timer has been ticking far too long for the next series of Bake Off, but the shift to Channel 4 is sure to stir up mixed emotions for the British public.
“While show producers have assured us the show is essentially the same – no one could begrudge Mary Berry returning to the hit-show.”
